Weird zoom / crop / missing edges issue... or I'm losing the plot...

Hi there - before I post all the technical blurb, is there a known zoom / crop issue with vids and stills at certain resolutions? I'll keep it really brief in case this is a 'feature' I'm just unaware of 😀. 1920 x 1080 project. Add a 1920 x 1038 still or vid to the timeline and everything is good - black bars top and bottom as expected 👍. Add a 1920 x 1039 still or vid to the timeline and Vegas zooms it in and chops off the edges, no black bars, edges gone 👎.

Am I losing my mind? 🙃

I've tried it in VP12 and 15 - exactly the same problem in both. Bizarre!

It looks like you have that "Adopt source media …" setting selected in Project Properties. In this case a height of 1039 pixel is kind of threshold for an HD project. Just deselect this setting.

Ha - no way!! Thank you so much! I've been tearing what's left of my hair out with this one! That must be literally the only box I hadn't ticked / unticked... 😆 For some stupid reason I assumed that box was overridden by the "Prompt to adjust project settings to match first media added..." option, that I always dismiss rather than switching the option off in Preferences. Oh well, I guess I should read the actual words on the screen... 😁

I wonder why 1039??

Try even integer resolutions only.

Vegas has to do "something" with requests that are not modulus 2.

I did. I tested 1036, 1037, 1038, 1039, 1040. It starts adopting at 1039 and bigger.

I don't know either. Maybe the adoption starts if the frame aspect ratio from Project Properties and source properties differs at least 4 %. At least this is what my tests with different aspect ratios shows (different widthes and different heights for both source properties and Project Properties).
