NewBlue Titler EX - OpenFX

Bob H schrieb am 13.12.2012 um 15:33 Uhr
Hi, using Movie Studio Platinum 12 64 bit, build 576. In the NewBlue Titler under help, about it gives version 1.0 Build120602. Under updates it gives Build121205, so I download this. The file is NewBlueTitlerProForWindowsSetup10-121205exe. Why Titler Pro? Anyway I try to install this. I get several options including OpenFX Install (selected by default) and OpenFX 64bit Install. These select the plugin NewBlue Titler Pro Common Files or NewBlue Titler Pro 64 bit Common Files respectively. I have tried both, but each one selects the Program Files (x86) directory by default. Should not 64 bit downloads go to the Program Files directory. Whatever I choose, when I reload MS12, no update has taken place. Can anyone shed some light on this please?

Regards
BobH

Here's the solution most people have found, Bob, in a recent thread.

You have mistaken what installed software you have. The one you downloaded is for the titler PRO for Vegas PRO the one you want is Here
http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/updates/moviestudiopp that is the Titler EX for Studio.
I think this will help. I guess a question is did you buy Titler PRO it does cost $300 US?
I the same version of Titler EX as yours.

Here is the one from the other thread
http://www.newbluefx.com/downloads/Sony/Beta/NewBlueSonyVegasMSPPS12Setup14-121130.exe

It seeme to be the latest build.

Thanks for the replies you guys. NewBlue have replied to me as follows "Unfortunately, the "Check for Updates" is reporting the current Titler Pro version and not a newer TitlerEx version. If you installed Titler Pro, please uninstall it. Here's a newer TitlerEx version you can use:

http://www.newbluefx.com/downloads/Sony/NewBlueSonyVegasMSPPS12Setup14-121121.exe

I now find that the NewBlue Plugins for MS12 (64bit) do not all work. The titler seems OK, but MS12 crashes when I click on the Plugins in Transitions or Video FX. I have now found my VMS11 has problems with the NewBlue Plugins. When I open previous projects in VMS11 that worked fine, now the Titles are blacked out with the message "Error: Titler.dll not found.

I downloaded and tried to install the link they gave me, but no joy as nothing was updated. I contacted NewBlue again and the reply was "It will install both 32-bit and 64-bit as required. If the installer is not working, please follow this process:

1. Uninstall the MSPPS package
2. Uninstall Movie Studio
3. Reinstall the current Movie Studio version 4. Reinstall MSPPS

Can anyone suggest my best action before I uninstall MS12 and VMS11 and start over.

Editguy43, thanks for the reply. I see your link is a Beta version 121130.exe rather than the one NewBlue gave me 121121.exe. Thanks for your reply Steve as well.

To give you all the information:
VMS HD Platinum 11 is Build 322. Under Media Generators I seem to have NewBlue Titler and NewBlue Titler Pro - OpenFX, so it seems my wrong install has mucked things up.
MS12 is Build 576 (64bit). Under Media Generators I only have NewBlue Titler EX - OpenFX and this is Build 120602 even though I tried to install 121121, but at least it works. In Transitions or Video FX, when I try to use any of the NewBlue options, MS12 crashes out.

You shouldn't need to uninstall VMS11 - just SMS12. Everyone that I've seen try this indicates that the procedure does work to get everything installed. I know it's a hassle to uninstall and reinstall - but it will get it to properly work.

Bob sorry about that I did not notice that it was a beta. I am glad you got a reply from them as Edward (jetdv) is a very cool cat....

Hi again and thanks for your help so far. When I tried to update the NewBlue Titler EX the link was to the Titler Pro which I did not see. Since then I have had all sorts of problems with Titles, Transitions and Video FX in both VMS 11 and MS12 (64bit). So I uninstalled VMS11 and MS12, uninstalled all the NewBlue plugins. On my system drive in Program Files I deleted all folders for MS12 and NewBlue and in Program Files (X86) I did the same.
Now I have reinstalled MS12 (64bit Build 576 and reinstalled NewBlue using the link to NewBlue Sony Vegas MSPPS12 Setup14.exe. Now MS12 seems to be working. But When I run MS12, under Media Generators I get two options: NewBlue Titler EX – OpenFX and NewBlue TitlerPro – OpenFX. Both seem to work when I drag them to the timeline but both open as NewBlue TitlerPro – Open FX. Can someone explain this?
I have not tried to reinstall VMS11 yet, as last time it screwed up MS12 for some reason. I hope to do so when I have MS12 sorted, as I have projects that use VideoFX plugins that are not available in MS12.
I hope this makes some sort of sense. Can anyone help please?

Bob,
with all this in/un/reinstalling going on, do you have a version of NBTPro and TitlerEx12 on the same machine?

I finally got this working using this link:
www.newbluefx.com/downloads/Sony/Beta/NewBlueSonyVegasMSPPS12Setup14-121130.exe

But NewBlue sure doesn't make it easy!

Part of the problem is that some of the links they sent us install the effects to the Program Files(86) directory for 32-bit apps. So, if you have anything your New Blue folder in that directory, you need to uninstall and delete it.

Once you've done that and you install from the link above, Movie Studio 12 should find it. If not, you can manually link it by going to VST Plug-ins tab under Options/Preferences/.

And by all means DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE UPDATE! The update downloads a trial version of the Titler Pro and undoes pretty much everything you've done to this point.

Hi once more and again thanks for your replies. Now fixed I hope, at least yesterday it seemed to be working. NewBlue wrote "delete files from here c:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins\NewBlue". There were references to Titler Pro even though I had uninstalled everything, so I deleted them. NewBlue support has been very good and very quick in replying; did you hear that Sony?

Thanks again

For me, it was spending an entire morning experimenting, adding and removing programs.
