Vegas Movie Studio vs. Magix Movie Edit

Mr_Scary schrieb am 14.01.2017 um 08:51 Uhr

Hi all, I'm new to Vegas/Magix as I'm in need of new Software, I have been using the 30 day free trial, and like it well. Seems to work better then others I have used.

I'm planing on purchasing (Vegas Movie Studio) Platinum, But have some questions I hope you all can help out with.

I know Magix has been around for a while, and now own Vegas. So what does that mean for Vegas Movie Studio, and or Magix Movie Edit?

My main question is, Which do you prefer? And Why?

The last Software Suite I purchased was Cyberlink Power Director, which I have used their products since around 1999/2000, and the last suite was pure garbage, and did not give an update, and mine does not even work anymore., Completely unusable junk.

Any way, If you all can give me some insight, I am not a pro, but I have a huge back log of RAW files to edit, and render to MP4. All are .MTS, .MP4, .AVI so far all seem to render nicely.

Also whats the difference purchasing through "Steam" I see it's much cheaper, Even though I'm an avid gamer, and use steam everyday I don't like the idea of launching my video programs through Steam, but not 100% opposed to it either... Is there a difference from the Steam Version vs. the Website Version. it's a 55% price difference on the Platinum Edition.

Thanks for any reply, and/or direction...

Some differences including what you already seem to know are mentioned here. DVD Architect does not seem to be included in the Steam version, which probably shows in the price. Look for MAGIX offers for the standard Platinum version. V. 14 is promised for February.

I have not any experience of Magix Movie Edit or similar Magix products. Maybe others will have an opinion on that.

Thanks for the reply.

Yea, I do make DVDs, and didn't know abut the Steam version not including it. so I need that. I think I will be going with the Website Download of Platinum or Suite.

At the moment just testing the 1st version, I will try out the Platinum version for a few days.

Appreciate the reply.

Mr_Scary what did you go with in the end?

I still have not purchased any software, I plan to get Movie Studio Suite. Just to busy right now to use it.

I know this is old, but I ended getting "Studio 15 Suite" with a special offer Magix sent me in Email. I tried some Free editing programs, but they would waste my time. I would get a nice video ready and they would all fail 90% of the time and never render the final product. I assume other editing software is ok for small 2 minute videos, but for robust 20 minute projects, I had to go with Studio 15 Suite.
