Hi together, My colleagues from the VEGAS Magazine and Social Media team wanted to thank you for your feedback:
Hi Paul, Len, and Apple Jax,
We’re glad you’ve discovered our new magazine. We plan on sharing new articles with interesting information, stories, and tutorials on a regular basis.
If you have any wishes for specific topics, let us know and we’ll try to cover it.
In the meantime, you can also follow our new Facebook page to make sure you won’t miss any updates and news.
This can be a good branding too... Hopefully this magazine can inspire anyone in the industry and overcome any 'negative thought' on what some people thought of Vegas.
Mathias, not every member here have account in Facebook, so any new post from the Magazine site should also be shared here. Haven't checked if there is any e-mail subscription option?
In the meantime, you can also follow our new Facebook page to make sure you won’t miss any updates and news.
I hope you realize that there a a few people that do NOT want to use Facebook / Instagram / Twitter / Etc.
i most wholeheartedy agree - what a complete and utter waste of resourses. get on with making the best nle not spruking it to cyberspace in the hope it might gain a couple of buyers.
I agree with Apple Jax (above). I was starting to lose hope for the longevity of SVP, and seeing the attention being given, not JUST to the program itself, but to the community of users is reassuring. Many (most?) of us are producing videos for social media, in one form or another, and here is Magix, building it's brand on social media. They should be applauded. Not every single person in a software company is a programmer. Just becuse MathiasH is doing his job, working on this magazine, does not mean that the software team is not doing theirs. The fact that Magix has assigned/hired someone to engage in social media is a pretty good indication that they believe SVP will be around for the long term.
For those who think that a magazine and/or other advertising material is a waste of resources, be aware that improvements in Vegas functionality are created by software engineers, while magazines, cut-sheets, and websites are created by marketing personnel. More Vegas advertizing means more revenue for Magix and more revenue means more software engineers to improve Vegas. The folks at Magix Software GmbH have been in business since 1993 and have been growing steadily since. Their success obviously indicates that they know what they are doing (unlike some here who pass judgment on business strategies yet have never been in the corporate world).
I think the point here is (as ermep01 says) that the forum users would not need to go to Facebook/whatever to see any updates and news, especially as we have the NEWS section here.
@vkmast: I understand and agree with your point. In general, such marketing material , is designed for those who are NOT on this forum and are potential customers (thus all the "glitz"). Clearly, we already know what Vegas does so we do not need such materials ourselves.

That's exactly what I ment to say. Nothing more, nothing less.

Sorry Peter but I can't agree. If the Magazine follows the pattern of the old Vegas Newsletter it can contain a great deal of useful informattion such as info about new builds and the way the software has been used by deifferent filmmakers along with some excellent training articles.Got to be worth it.
Richard, looking back at what I said I realize that I reacted too harshly in saying that we do not need such materials for ourselves. Now and then I do pick up some good pointers from magazine articles. But I still do think that the main thrust of these sorts of magazines is to attract new customers.
I think the magazine is a great addition. Also, I'm really impressed with the attitude and show of force that Magix is putting forth with Vegas. I'm expecting great things for Magix Vegas

Man..Ush that's a negative comment there!! How can you jump on a company for wanting to put forward their wares? I'd hazard a guess that the media team are nothing to do with the software development team, so why is a magazine that's freely available (here for instance) a bad thing? If it can feature articles that inspire folks to use Vegas thats gotta be a good thing. If it can start to get Vegas out to a wider audience that's also a good thing. The more people buy Vegas, the more money will be available to be spent on it's development surely?
i didn't mean my comment to be 'damning' just an observation that anyone with any sense looking at spending $500 on an nle is going to research it's qualities not by company advertising but by talking with existing users if possible and reading users reports and conversations, more than likely on dedicated user forums and the like (which is what i have done ever since i had access to the net).
one of the main takeaways from vegas will be it's failed integration of gpu, preview colour mismanagement and it's lack of collaborative tools. for those of us using vegas we know these problems well enough but to an outsider they're red flags.
with free resolve as a benchmark anyone hoping to charge serious money for a 'pro' nle is going to have to offer a reliable, stable and FAST system. whilst vegas is an indies swiss army knife it's going to take a great deal more than flash advertorials and sales pitches to actually get people to hand over serious money.
the best advert for any product is word of mouth, and unfortunately i stopped spruking vegas when it fell flat on it's face with gpu and having to explain studio <> camera previewing.nowadays i tell my students to try resolve, after all it's free and in a constant state of development. i'm hoping that magix puts the magic back in vegas so i can go back to singing it's praises, but glossy colour pics and stories don't sell expensive software anywhere near as efficently as real life experience does.
hi apple jax - i did read ALL the stories, etc., even before my first post, and yes, it all reads really well indeed, but i have never read any disparaging article by a manufacturer about their own product, EVER ;-)
i'm not knocking magix's attempt to broaden their advertising base, but as i wrote, i hope it's not at the expensse of developing the product.
and i hope we're not in for a batch of gimmicks as sony were wont to push with new releases rather than bug fixes.
talking of which i have yet to find anyone using catalyst, which i've now deleted off my pc and i've even stopped using browse which just doesn't fit into my workflow comfortably
