Some of us understood u were/are on w10. Did you figure it out? If not what are you doing? I’m reluctant to reload with all of my settings and plugins.

I didn't do anything differently. After not getting any help here on the forum I just stopped using the camera the records in MST for a few months. I just recorded a brief test clip tonight to post in the forum here, and suddenly Vegas accepted with no issues. I'm totally stumped.

@Matthew-Hall 👍 Why people have started assuming your using Windows 7 i have no idea, you're right, often the comments aren't read properly, even when it's pointed out like I did in the comments above quoting that your using 'the latest version', I looked before making that comment, nowhere on here do you mention Windows 7 & your last post dated 10/28/2021 your very first comment states 'Hi, I just upgraded to Vegas 19 on Windows 10' 🤷‍♂️👍

I've already said it, but I'm totally stumped. I've had people in this thread tell me that MTS files have been incompatible since Vegas 17, but that has not been my experience at all. I've been using MTS files without issue since Vegas 14 or 15, the first time I had an issue was with Build 458 of Vegas 19, and at some point whatever that issue was must have been patched out, because they import just fine for me now, and I haven't changed anything else on my end.

@Matthew-Hall 👍 Hi, for what it's worth it plays ok on my machine but creating a crossfade transition doesn't play too well, & when i started screen recording the audio got messed up, i've never seen that before 🤷‍♂️😂 the audio returned to normal after hitting stop then play again, creating proxy made it play the transition fine tho,

We have 3 machines all on W10 with VP18 that have been importing and editing mts files for over a year. However mine has stopped taking mts. We’re comparing all the versions and settings. We’ll let you know.

@dave-stuck you could try the technique of rewraping to MP4 + re-encoding audio to AAC. The bonus is video will playback smoother. Note however I see black flashing with default settings when playing back the MP4, may or may not be fixed with setting dynamic ram to 0. Can also activate Legacy decoder for the mp4, this will give better playback performance than mts without black flashes, but not as good as default settings(SO4)

MTS followed by MP4

I don’t think I’m going to change everyone’s work flow for this one machine. But thanks

can you go to your icon at the top, click it - My Profile, & fill in your Signature with your Vegas version, Windows version & system specs, full name of CPU, GPU, & amount of RAM etc. this will then show at the bottom of the comments 👍 (see mine & other peoples at the bottom of comments) thanks.

sure thing

So strange. I have been using Vegas since Vegas 14, and at different points over the years I have had intermittent issues with certain file types just deciding to not import correctly. It's always been resolved with subsequent patches/updates, but I am never able to get a clear answer as to why these issues pop up.

I was able to solve a similar issue in 2020 by uninstalling the most recent Windows Security Update. It's not as scary as it sounds, because the update will reinstall itself next month, if not sooner.

I said in my first post that I am using the latest version of Windows.

@Matthew-Hall I got it from one of Joelson's posts. Thanks for putting the record straight.

same as @set. i use them on 12 16 and 19. winows 10.

dave-stuck wrote on 5/3/2022, 11:10 AM

Ok so was able to RESOLVE this problem by reinstalling VP18.

We checked the 3 machines (that are hardware identical). All settings/plugins/builds matched. Just one desktop did not work with mts. We did note that a version of HITFILM Express had been loaded on this desktop recently but has since been removed.

I backedup, created a restore point, ran the presets manager and reinstalled. Fortunately, since i removed v18 and then immediately reinstalled without shutting down, all my presets/plugins/etc stayed! Not a SOLVE but certainly a resolution

@dave-stuck

"I backed up, created a restore point..."

If we saw that written more often, most threads would only be a few entries.
