Markers in different colors

Amivideotek wrote on 1/18/2023, 10:03 AM

A question that often comes to mind: wouldn't it be possible to choose the markers in Vegas Pro between a few different colors?
This would allow me to avoid situations such as those in the annex.
I know region markers and command markers exist but this is not what I need!

I would also like to be able to change the color of the markers. You can use Project Notes there have the same colors available for tracks.

Changing the color of the markers would be nice indeed.

Jessariah67 wrote on 3/21/2023, 5:36 AM

Yes! As a semi-related note, the fact that the highlights change from yellow to "red" when ripple edit is on is VERY helpful. Even a second choice in color would help - especially if you're using markers for regular things (like every beat...).

Just being able to spot another color on a timeline like this would be nice - for now, I literally use the top track to mark sections with a text or solid color event.

Having different color options for sets of markers would be nice.

If you include the words "Feature Request" in your topic title, it will be sure to get noticed.

I have in my role as moderator made sure, that they will see this idea... but we cannot say anything, if the development team will decide to follow this idea. I ask you for your understanding for that.

The development team has limited resources and capacities only. That is why requests for new features has to be evaluated by them carefully, and they decide what to implement. Unfortunately, that is all what we as users can state here. I hope that is fine for you.

Pick two of the feature requests you consider important, and repost them in a new thread.

lan-mLMC wrote on 4/15/2023, 8:24 AM

I suggest you make a concise GIF comparison for one of your feature suggestions like this :

It allows more users to understand what you mean. It's also possible to get more users to vote for you.

As the number of users who vote for you increases, developers can no longer ignore your suggestions, and will most likely add your suggestions to their to-do list and give it a high priority. All this is because your suggestion got a lot of votes from users, which indicates it is the right development direction.

Dexcon wrote on 4/15/2023, 8:42 AM

I absolutely vote 'yes' to having a choice of marker colors. Using markers heavily in the last few weeks, color choices would enable better identification of 'chapters' on the timeline. Yes, there is marker naming, but on a long timeline on a 4K monitor, those names are small and close to illegible unless zooming in on the timeline.

I've had to create 'green' regions to mark certain segments of the timeline that require special audio attention in order to differentiate those segments from the markers.

+1000 for colored markers. I have another editing software, and that is what I do, different colors for different reasons. Yes, we can add text to the Vegas markers, but I know when I have to work on say music, which color marker that is and go right to it.
