Render produces mixed frames from previous static jpgs

PacoDeCasa wrote on 12/24/2021, 4:13 AM

Hi all

I have this project (4k), the top track is an animated gif, the next one are static photos.... The other tracks are used for other parts of the project...

The case is that when I render this I always get "mixed" frames of the photos, as you can see, there are 7 photos one after another... but in the final video i get suddently frames from previous photos... then back again to the next photo....

I've tried different render settings... h265, h264, same result, random mixed frames.... prores export seems to work ok with no mixed frames...

I've muted animated gif track, same result, I've disabled track effects.... same result..., I've disabled all the tracks except photos and animated gif... same result... same result all the time!!.

Any idea of what is the problem???

You can see what I'm talking about here: https://1drv.ms/v/s!AmgD9PprXLrcmdVDo59ysGJAGALW3Q?e=nRd68I

You may not be able to fix this project.

Starting with a fresh project, make absolutely sure Snapping and Quantize to Frames are ON before adding any media. Report back if more problems.

What do you mean a fresh project?, this project has +100 clips, multiple tracks, effects, sounds...... do you mean starting AGAIN that?????????

By the way, quantize to frames was already ON, and snapping too....

I deleted all the project but that part, and exported it as you suggested (I reduced jpg size too):

The problem seems to be related to the GPU rendering. At the end of the test only the first track appears, the animated GIF. But CPU rendering of the test project runs without problems for me. Voukoder could be an alternative.
I have an AMD GPU running.

@PacoDeCasa Hi, I get this problem sometimes if i have a project with video & pics mixed, If i render with the one with (NVENC) at the end, the rendered out file has pics in the wrong places, flashing fro one to the other, If i render with the option that doesn't have (NVENC) It's little slower but renders fine,

I also found that if you render a jpg/png & text into a video format like AVC & replace them on the timeline it all flows better,

I rendered that on my laptop from signature to Magix HEVC with the IGPU.

Rendered with ProRes, AVC and HEVC.

Only the AVC has one tearing frame.

Suspicion: Don't use the Cookie Cutter Filter on the track for that effect.

Use Vignette in event level.

I did a NVENC render and the frame order is messed up with glitches. It plays back fine in Vegas. That's using VP 19.458 and the latest studio driver. Legacy AVC decoding disabled; legacy HEVC decoding enabled. Dynamic ram preview at 10% (3262 MB).

I then did a second test with dynamic ram preview set to 0MB to see if it's still connected to glitches. It's still glitched with it at 0MB.

I did a third test with DRP=0MB and the GPU off in preferences/video. Now it's way slower to render. I don't see out of order frames but do see some glitching of the zzz towards the end.

So something still not right with NVENC renders and GPU preview acceleration in VP 19.

It seems to be a problem of nvidia encoder... anyway, I've tried creating some kind of movement (moving a few pixels from the beginning to the end of the event) for each jpg and it seems to do the job fine!!

@VEGASDerek Some corruption here with NVENC renders of a timeline with still images and simple animations. QSV, VCE, CPU and Voukoder NVENC seem to work based on the examples above.
