unable to create signpost avi file and vegas keeps shutting down

Jstm wrote on 6/30/2019, 4:13 AM

I have installed the debug frameserver to vegas pro 13 so it can work with handbrake. I did this over a year ago and it has worked perfectly but recently I accidentally cancelled a render before handbrake could load and now when i try and render it keeps saying "unable to create signpost avi file. Please close any applications that may be using this file and try again." Then an empty box comes up and says mount status with only the option to cancel. Then it says vegas pro has stopped working with an option to send a report. Also the black box with all the coding keeps running and cannot be x'd out.  I have tried restarting my computer and the program and even setting vegas to its default settings and still the issue continues. This has baffled me and been very frustrating because I am right in the middle of a huge edit and am at a complete standstill. Any advice would be greatly greatly appreciated. I made an account special just for this lol

This is a known issue.

HOS Bug Alert--Vegas Crash after FrameServer Starts

I've had a number of users report that Vegas crashes right after the frameserver starts (which I have reproduced using 1.0.2.59). Thanks to some detective work by John Dennis, the problem stems from the introduction of a new build of the FrameServer. It occurs whenever the older FrameServer versions attempt to "check for updates". The issue affects not only HOS, but anyone using the previous version for use in such scripts as Vegas2Handbrake, For non-HOS users, simply download and install the new FrameServer version. For HOS users, I've kluged a workaround which blocks the FrameServer from checkng for updates in the app that links Vegas to the encoder. It can be downloaded at. https://www.dropbox.com/s/rxtne1htpxp73gc/fs2enc.exe?dl=0 The file should be copied into the following folder "C:\Program Files\HappyOtterScripts".  Be advised that this "fix" may or may not work for your specific installation.

If you are a non-HOS user, just download and install the new FrameServer build and it should work OK again.

Did you first uninstall the old version as recommended?

I uninstalled and when i install the new version I agree to the terms, then select debug and magix vegas then select where to install core files and on the final step of where to instal the plugin I get a red X icon saying

"the specified plugin installation directory does not exist. Please verify and enter a valid plugin directory to install the plugin" and it gives the browse option

In this case you should use the " unmount " script.
