Unable to render 5.1 Dolby AC-3 Vegas Pro 17

Darren-Pyle wrote on 6/16/2022, 8:28 AM

If I go to render my 5.1 surround sound live 1.5 hour live event project and user the Dolby AC-3 template - when I click Finish to render it, the box goes away and nothing happens. I have been looking through some of the posts, is rendering a 5.1 surround sound project so it can be used with DVD Arch for blurays and DVD's just not doable anymore even though Vegas has the nice 5.1 setting with the slick panner mixer ability?

@john_dennis Thanks for setting the record straight.

I should say that the Dolby AC3-5.1 "Pro" encoder is missing beginning with VP14. That encoder, which was certified, fortunately does not have the 90° Phase Shift downmix bug that made the "Studio" encoder almost useless for me, and I suspect for others who tried to listen to the stereo downmix.

I assume the bug is still there, but it might stand retesting, and was first reported here in a previous decade:

Thanks guys for your input and Thanks @john_dennis for the post you linked. I see the Dolby AC3 -5.1 option fine in 17. I see in that post though there are probably extra steps with assigning the track to buses and matching them on the custom render settings. I have several audio tracks in my project linked to cameras that I am not using and have muted because I don't need them or they are GoPros and their audio is not exactly synced with the video which is annoying. That may be an issue too so I will play around with the buses and matching tonight and see if that allows me to rendering and then hopefully DVD ARch will allow it to be used.
