I am looking at the Canon C200 as an upgrade to my current camera. I am wondering if there is a way to transcode the Cinema Raw Light footage to be able to import into Vegas Pro 17? Or will this be added in an update?
Vegas 17 does not support RAW formats. It's possible 18 will, the Vegas team has expressed interest in eventually supporting RAW, but no dates have been given on when this can be expected.
Oddly, v16 supports zCam E2 zRaw but v17 does not. I just checked it out and was surprised to see v16 pull in zRaw and everything else E2 except ProRes (saying I needed QuickTime). On the same machine, however, v17 pulled in everything except zRaw.
FYI Vegas was one of the first NLE's to support RAW from Red cameras. There was then about 2 years, while owned by Sony, that it did not support Red Dragon Raw, this was fixed maybe about 4 or 5 years ago. It sure would be nice if Vegas would become a leader in format support (e.g. is RAW from Blackmagic supported?)
@star_wyvern If you were desperate to gain access to the content within VP, you could always export/save it in Canon DPP to a tiff sequence, then import into VP.
