You mean like this? You need to add HTML markup to the link. You need to put [/img] following your link. The sticky at the top of the page describes this.
Gary, I'm having the same problem as Peter. In fact, I have a 2012 post that originally displayed two of my dropbox images fine, but now they don't display. They both have the HTML markup you refer to. But similar to Peter's mine start with "https://www.dropbox.com/s/" which is the only linking option I am seeing in dropbox. I've removed the "s" to give "http://www.dropbox.com/s/" but still no cigar.
First off you need to drop the ?dl=0 from the link. This is a Dropbox command that tells Dropbox how to process the link. If you had ?dl=1 at the end of the link, this tells Dropbox to start Downloading the file, rather than opening it. The Vegas forums don't understand the Dropbox link extensions. Next, remove the "s" from https: to make it http: And make sure that you have your image located in the Dropbox Public folder, or a folder under the Public folder. Lastly, Dropbox does have a nasty punishment policy if your link generates to much traffic. If you exceed your daily bandwidth limit of 20GB, they disable all your Public links for 72 hours.
Yes John, precisely what I said at the outset: Most people seem to get a URL with dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/, that works, but Jerry and I get www.dropbox.com/s/, that doesn't work.
Are you using the Dropbox folder context menu selection to get the Public Link?
Here is the line above that shows the Dropbox hosted image: Again, I had to add a space between the g and = or it would simply show the image inside the code block.
I hate be the bearer of bad news but I've had problems accessing dropbox.com on Internet Explorer 10 on one machine. Maybe it's some coprorate security problem or maybe it's a dropbox.com issue. Many machines still work as normal. Dropbox probably has lots of customer-facing servers to get their work done.
On this machine I can see the links even though I can't access my dropbox.
Sorry Gary, we cross posted. I don't see your menu. How do you get it?
When I installed Dropbox, it created a Virtual Folder in my named User directory called Dropbox. To upload any files from my PC to the Dropbox server all I have to do is drag or copy files to the Dropbox Folder and they're automatically uploaded to the server. The install also created a System Tray Icon for the Dropbox folder that has links to open either the local folder or my account on Dropbox.
The context menu item I showed in the graphic for getting the Public link, is an addition to the regular context menu you see by right-clicking on a file in Windows Explorer. I just right-clicked on the image located in a folder under the Dropbox Public folder, selected the Copy Public Link menu item, and the link was placed on the clipboard.

"---new Dropbox accounts created after October 4, 2012 no longer have a Public folder. Don't worry! Every account created prior to this date will still have a Public folder. If you'd like to enable a Public folder on a new account, see the instructions below (Creating a Public folder) to learn more."
>Did you have to create your Public folder or was it already there?
Mine is an old account so it was already there. What is interesting to me is when I created my 2012 post here with links to two images not under public they worked fine. Then, at some point dropbox (or SCS?) changed and my links no longer resolved until I relocated to public and relinked.
