2 machines, one deactivation per month.

Ok... I'm confused.
I've read the posts here about the deactivation, but I think i've missed something.

I've just installed VP15 on my new pc at home. I have VP15 on a pc at work.

I started the program for the first time, entered my serial # and its now asking me to deactivate the work pc, so I can use this pc at home. But I can only do it once a month? WTF?!

Its not unused, I'm still using it and want to continue using it as well as being able to work from home.

This isn't the Steam edition, right?

Can't you just go to help and deactivate within the Vegas program? I didn't think that had a limitation on the number of deactivations per month.

VP 15 should work on two machines at one time so if more than that are activated that you can use the website to remove one machine.

no, this is the downloaded version.
Thats what I'm confused about. It's not opening the program - i have to deactivate an unused device before it will start and it says I can only do this once a month.
"you can deactivate an unused device once a month"
I have 2 devices currently active and I want to use both devices going forward.

From the main FAQs:

"9. How many computers can I use VEGAS Pro on?
You can use VEGAS Pro (14.0 and later) simultaneously on 2 devices. VEGAS Pro 365 can be used on 1 device at a time.

To deactivate a device, so you can activate a different one, visit your MAGIX account > My Products > Show More Details > Deactivate. This option can be used only once a month.

In VEGAS Pro 14.0 or later, you can also choose Deactivate the Software on this PC from the Help menu This option can be used as often as you wish. An internet connection is required."

As @RogerS says, Steam editions are different.

Yes, i've seen that.
I guess i want to know... does this just mean the other machine is running vegas and it needs to be "turned off" before using the other machine?
When it says "deactivated", does that mean that the software will no longer run on the pc when i "activate" the new pc, or is it just "turning it off until I use that machine again"?
i'm trying to clarify what deactivation means.

I think you need to login to your Magix account and figure out what's going on. It's possible one machine is listed twice if you upgraded the OS or for some reason Vegas thinks it's a different computer. There should be no issue with having both machines running Vegas.

One machine doesn't need to be turned off- I don't think Vegas has any way of knowing that.

Deactivated means you can't use it again until you start Vegas on that machine and activate it (and already deactivated it on a third machine so there is space for an additional activation.)

My account says 2 machines in use simultaneously.
both have unique names and the activation dates are different.
I deactivated my other pc for now...

@ShrekUnit your experience is indeed odd. I have recently done additional installs of a version and have been able to use that version on two devices simultaneously.

Have you checked from your MAGIX account > My products that there are no "double" activations on a device? There are reports on the forum that this has happened. If so, try and deactivate the "double".

Edit: Roger was quicker. Let us know what happens.
