Hello,
I'm a first time poster, but have been using VMS 9 for two years now and am just getting to the point of being almost dangerous :) My audio file did not render with the video (2 hr), found video in temp folder with no audio file(cpu shutdown before it completed, it took over 12 hrs to render) is it possible to render the audio portion only and match it with the existing video file? (vms plat 9, DVDA 4.5) . Video and audio from sony camcorder HD 5.0 long play. I usually shoot at much lower quality and the whole process only took 3-4 hours. Thanks for any help or advise you can give.

Are you saying you output your video project from Vegas Movie Studio to DVD Architect Studio and you got video but no audio?

How did you output your video or port it to DVD Architect? Some methods do produce a separate video and audio stream, which join together as one file in DVD Architect.

Yes. Simply choose Dolby Digital AC3 as the file type when rendering, and it helps a lot to give it exactly the same name as the video file, except with a .ac3 extension instead of .mpg. As long as the project on the timeline is the same as it was when you rendered the video the two will match up perfectly.

Thanks for your reply, it usually does export together, but my cpu shut down somewhere in the process and only the video file was processed with the make DVD button on VMS.

Thanks for your reply, I looked at trying that but the video portion also appeared to want to rended. do you just blank out that portion of the render save to box in VMS make video selection?

Not sure i can help you. I use Vegas Pro, not Vegas Studio, so the rendering options are probably a little different. In Vegas Pro there's no function to render the two files together at once, which is apparently what you're seeing. Try going into the Advanced Render (which i would suggest all Vegas Studio users use all the time, as it's much more straight forward and less confusing than the 'make movie' function). In Advanced Render you should be able to create a .ac3 file easily enough.

Rad,
if you don't want to follow Chienworks' advice to render video and audio separately (Project > Render as...), you just have use the Make Movie wizard and render again.
