Adding LUTs individually a better way?

Do we have to add LUTs (.cub files) individually by saving them again inside Vegas 19 pro standalone?😖
I have vegas pro 19 standalone. How do I add (import) more than one LUT at a time if at all possible? I understand in vegas 18 I would have selected a clip and add media fx, choose LUT or select default LUT, alter that by selecting a new .cub file and saving that with a new name. I hope some one has some clever work arounds. Is there a better way?😧

That's how I do it. I guess you can add at the track or event level as well to save time if it's all the same type of file. At the event level you can also selectively paste event attributes (hit control + c on one event with the LUT then highlight all the other events and paste the attributes that will include the LUT).

Maybe someone could make a script to automate this at the media level?

It is a very simple matter to stack LUT filters in Vegas Pro 19 using the Vegas LUT Filter fx Plugin at any of the Media, Track, Event, or Output Levels.

In this quick example, two LUT filters are added as Event Level fx. The first is a camera LUT to convert S-Log to 709 for conventional monitor output. The second is the "Rose" warming grading LUT from the Panasonic collection, added at a modest level.

I don't really suggest stacking more than two Luts because doing so can create redundancies that destroy native bit depth, unless that is your intention. You can also stack LUTS using the two locations in Vegas' color grading panel.

Thanks for your comment however, my question isnt about stacking LUTs, it's about importing them into Vegas pro 19 Standalone. Is this *new feature Bulk Luts Previewer, somthing you have made, or is this within the program already?

I finally figured out what you are doing. You are exporting an Effects Chain as a LUT, then loading the new lut in the LUT Filter fx, then saving that as a Preset, which then shows up under the LUT Filter in the Video fx window. Very clever; I never thought of doing that.

It would be a nice day's project for someone younger than me to write a word Macro that would parse the names from a folder of .cube files in VB, then write and save an XML file for each one; all would go in Documents/OFX Presets/com.vegascreativesoftware_lutfilter

It isn't that I want to have to save them as presets manually, I would rather that by default there was a place to import any new .cube files that they could be more readily available and used as swiftly as a preset.

I've made essentially the same request, and the response I received indicates that this is already on the development wishlist. Noting that their staff is running lean right now and there are bigger fish to fry, no one could predict when.

Meantime, you may want to check out the freeware previewer I've included in the download package; lots of very functional correction luts, and some grading cubes too.

You know, I just added a folder containing 35 LUTS as filter presets, and it only took a few minutes.

Thanks for the technique tip though, it is a workaround for being able to preview them inside Vegas.

I think that just saving a preset for each LUT.

Here's another way to do it. Looks like Vegas 17, 18, and 19 keep presets for the LUT FX in the documents folder:

Documents\OFX Presets\com.vegascreativesoftware_lutfilter\Filter

And it's not too hard to script up a routine that uses the XML file as a template and plugs in the LUT names and paths. Needed something to test vs22 on so I whipped one up. It's pretty rudimentary but it works. Zip is here.

@Musicvid Thanks, but probably not by me. Was my first time in 50 years. Ha, ha, now that I'm warmed up, like to work my way up to codecs. After I pretty-up the code, I'll throw it into the zip and maybe onto github too. In case anyone else wants to take a stab at it. It's pretty elementary, lacks error checking, and is totally in a single masm64 script. Probably more valuable as a how-to example which I was unable to find elsewhere.
