I bought nothing on steam and I don't know how it goes or work.

Neither have I, but comments on the forum over the years show that a Steam purchase puts you into the Steam product universe rather than the MAGIX universe in regards to registration, support and updates (not that there is likely to be any more updates to VMS17). In the case of Vegas Pro, Steam purchases apparently don't come with a serial number so registration on MAGIX's website is not possible - presumably that's the same with VMS.

I don't know but from posts made it seems you cannot have two or more instances of the Steam version open at the same time. You can with "ordinary" Vegas, which is occasionally useful.
