Audio ok, but no visual in the track area

gofigure wrote on 1/24/2012, 6:34 PM
I imported video from my sony cam corder into studio 11 and all is good except the lines indicating audio are not tshowing in teh track area unless you expand the track 100%. Never had this problem with this camera or vegas7?

Any help would be great. This is a new PC and I just loaded 11 build 283.

What of camcorder is this video coming from and what format is it?

Have you ensured that this cam doesn't shoot in 5.1 audio?

It is a Sony HDR-SR11 newer camera. I never had this problem with Vegas 7, just now that I up graded. It is not set to 5.1. OddLy enough clips brought in from my go pro show an audio line just fine.

If you stretch the track all the way out you can see some of the audio lines from teh cam corder. But in any other view they are not there but the sound is fine.

Right Click->Switches->Normalize
Now do the waveforms show?
Sounds like your audio levels are pretty low?

Changing to normalize didnt show any audio track lines but blew my sound level off the charts.

Again, audio is fine but not showing from camera but does from gopro. Didnt have the problem with 7

That camcorder shoots in half a dozen different quality levels at both hi-def and standard def. Do you know which mode you shoot your video in?

Also note that the audio it produces is 5.1 audio. Are your project properties set up for 5.1 audio?

The camera has always been on 2 channelStereo for Audio setting not 5.1 and I have VMS set to match that (stereo) The setting is SDHQ for video which I believe is standard def high quality. These are the same sttings I have been running since I've had the camera and VMS 7x and ran the files through VMS 7.x wth no trouble.

Wierd that my go pro vids show an audio wave and all the audio plays well. I didnt relieze how much i edit using the waveforms until this happened.

Upload a short sample of original video from the camera.
Let others try it on their systems and try to replicate the problem.

OK. Stupid question but where do I upload a sample file?

Anywhere you want; your own web server, Dropbox, Mediafire, hundreds of other free sharing sites on the web. Post your link here, directions at the top of the page.
;?)

Thanks, I'll get it up on Photobucket and paste a link.

Funny I pulled in a file I shot along with the others and it has the waveforms but 90% of them do not. All the same settings too. There's has to be something I am over looking. 11x sure crashes a lot.

Could not reproduce the audio track problem with my Win7 64 and VMS 11 build 283, which does not crash a lot here.

Thanks for trying. I'm still working on it but I must have crashed 15 times to day. I noticed VMS was pulling 1.9 - 2 meg and have heard that is where VMS stops and crashes.

Trying to find a fix for that in the search forums.
