Automatic Multicamera Editing in Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 17

Murf wrote on 1/30/2022, 10:32 AM

I record and edit all of the content for my band as well as for other bands in town. Shooting and editing concert videos is a very time consuming process. I've done livestreams with multiple cameras (all stationary) in OBS with a plugin called "Advanced Scene Switcher." This plugin allowed me to load in all of my different cameras and automatically switch between them at random. It also allows you to put in different lengths of time so the camera doesn't always switch at the same interval.

I have yet to find anything comparable to OBS's "Advanced Scene Switcher" in Movie Studio. If a similar feature exists, it would make life so much easier. Anybody know of anything like this? Any developers willing to make a plugin like this?

If you're referring to the VEGAS Movie Studio products (versions up to and incl. #17), that product line has been discontinued. If you have Movie Studio 2022 or 18, you need to ask at magix.info/us/video-forum as they are MAGIX products and not supported on this forum.

VAAST Software has a product called Mayhem that allows for random / semi-random editing based on user defined settings - http://vasstsoftware.com/product/mayhem/

The only thing is that VAAST's compatibility information - http://vasstsoftware.com/download/current/ - lists Mayhem as being for Vegas Pro only. Also, what may rule Mayhem out for you is that it is not a switcher between different video sources; rather, the way it works is to put the various media events on the one track on the timeline, highlight the events that you want to be used by Mayhem, open Mayhem (it will be under Extensions), do the settings and hit the Process button. Mayhem will then do its magic on the highlighted events.

Given that VMSP is now a discontinued product and therefore further development could not be expected, perhaps consider upgrading to Vegas Pro 19 for which development is ongoing.

@Dexcon  Thanks for the tip. Looks like it could be a possible solution. Emailed Vasst Software to see if it would work. I'll let you know what they say!

Murf, why not to go full automatic and let AI to compose play and animate avatars playing the music so one can sit and read a book written by AI.
