Black and White Effect Bug

SouLYayz wrote on 8/22/2018, 3:07 PM

While editing a video that I spent a lot of time doing, I made a part of it black and white using the Vegas effect. Now, for some reason, all of the video has turned black and white, and I can't undo it. I'd like a way of not having to re-edit the whole video, because I've spent an entire day editing it already. I'm using Vegas Pro 14.0.

Where did you apply the B&W effect: event, track, project media?

The little clip that I wanted to use it on. When I clicked on Media FX on the clip, it seemed to have effected the entire video.

Yes, you should only be applying it to the one event you want to be B&W. This shouldn't be too hard to figure out. Make sure you have not applied the effect as a media effect or on the track or on the project preview window. It's not a bug; you've just done something unintended.

If you still cannot figure it out, then upload your project file to dropbox or similar so we can take a look.

BTW, what type of media files are you using (please don't say OBS gameplay capture 😀). Same problem with other files or other projects?

As KInvermark said, there are several methods for adding effects to video.

At the end of the screenshot from online Help (F1), note the tip how to remove the current plug-in.

Well unfortunately, it was OBS gameplay capture, but I'm using mp4 files. Thing is, I can't really undo this. I've pressed ctrl+z multiple times, but it still will not fix this. Is there some way to fix this? The timeline editor shows it being in color still?

I am still optimistic. Let's slow down and think logically. Could be something you did in the project; could be the media. So try starting a new project and load the media in question to see if you can render it out (just a portion) in colour.

...and upload the problem project as I originally suggested.

or

See that the split screen button (next to video output fx button above the preview window is not selected.

Alright, I'll upload the project in a bit, but I have have removed the effect, and it's still there, and in other projects it is in color.
