Can't find my Vegas Movie Studio 13 installation. Should I buy new?

GoodEnough wrote on 4/7/2019, 6:54 PM

I purchased VMS13 Basic for $25 about 2 years ago.

It works fine and I got used to it.

I now have a new PC and don't know where I saved the download installation.

I don't want to spend much on video editing software since I only edit a few things a year now.

What are my options? Can I still download a cheap version of 13 ?

How did you purchase your VMS13? Presumably you have the Magix rebranded version (MS13 was originally released by Sony Creative Software).

I think I bought a download off Ebay. Must not have saved the download. It's time for a new version anyway.

VMS has come someway since 13. Download a trial of VMS16 to see for yourself. Personally I wouldn't bother with the basic when for a few extra dollars Platinum offers more.

You should be able to download VEGAS Movie Studio 13 using any of the methods described in points 2, 3, and 4 here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-where-can-i-download-vegas-pro-and-other-vegas-software--104782/ (And you might explore your Magix Account anyway.)

@GoodEnough

re "Should I buy new", if you think VMS 13 is good enough for you, probably not. Otherwise use @EricLNZ's suggestion to the letter. (See if your previous serial number is valid for upgrade pricing.)

I was able to contact support and get a link to download v13 (build 208) and my serial number

So, I am back in business !

What did he say "To the letter". I don't see any specific directions.

@GoodEnough the "specific" directions were to download a trial and Platinum version, i.e. to try before you buy and the Platinum version instead of the basic one.
