Can't resize edit windows in Studio 13

Windows 10, i7, NVIDIA 980 TI. Trying various settings under options, re-starting software, etc. I can't get a resize cursor in any of the windows, time line, preview, etc. I can't even resize the height of the tracks.

I have Vegas Pro 12 also (not about to pay $250 upgrade so figured I'd try Studio because I have a version of that too). Anyway, Vegas Pro 12's edit windows resize on this machine.

Do you have the basic stripped down Movie Studio 13 or Movie Studio Platinum 13?
The users of the basic version complain that they are not able to resize windows, group/ungroup things, or dock/undock windows. The comparison table also says that there are no comprehensive window docking options or recallable window layouts. See also the manual screenshot of the Main Window.
Movie Studio Platinum 13 in the Advanced Edit Mode has all of those options. The Simple Edit Mode in it seems somewhat similar to the basic Studio 13 though.

OTOH, IF you just need to reset the software to default settings and preferences, read here.

THANKS vkmast, that did the trick when I went into Advanced mode!!!! Sony should put it in the help system.

Good.
The "help system", i.e. Help menu includes Show Me How (also clickable on the Toolbar), which has basic Simple and Advanced Edit Mode tutorials.

Btw, if you go to Support > Training > Video and select Movie Studio, you'll be able see in Articles a comprehensive document titled http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/simple_video_editing_in_movie_studio_platinumTwo modes to match your experience level and needs in Movie Studio 13 Platinum[/link], also clickable under Resources on the main MSP 13 product pages on this site.

That fixes the problem for resizing the panes.  But I still can't resize tracks.  When I hover over the track top, nothing happens

I assume you have the Platinum version. If by "resize tracks" you mean e.g. changing a track's height, go to online Help (F1), Glossary > tracks > Video track controls and read the relevant item. See if it helps. You should also be able to hover on track borders on the track header and see a double-headed arrow. Then press down the left mouse button and drag. This applies to other resizing as well.

If you have Movie Studio (not Platinum), it's sadly as said in the second post of this thread.
