Cannot register my older copy of Sony Vegas Pro 18

Hello Forum users: I was installing my copy of Vegas Pro 18 to a new PC build using my email of record and the install went fine until the very where I had to re-enter the serial number and Email but the program said that email was in use by another person and would not finish the install process. It instructed me to contact Magix which I have done and they said I could try to solve this in the forum here until they contact me. Anyone know what is going on with my account? I mean I am the user of that email account don't understand. Thanks!!
