Cannot render <2 minute video in trial version

sunny-vagueis wrote on 2/22/2018, 1:18 AM

Vegas 15.5 Build 311 Windows 10

I have spent all night editing my video and just want to export it before I go to bed

The runtime is 1:53 - one minute and fifty-three seconds

When I click File > Render As it complains:

Rendering with trial versions of VEGAS Pro is limited to projects of less than 2 minutes in length. Please purchase VEGAS Pro for a full feature set.

I have tried setting the loop region

I don't see anywhere else to declare where the end of my video is

There are no clips after the two minute mark

Could you post a screenshot of your timeline and another one of your render settings?

Ok I had a marker at 1:59;28 and it didn't like it. Thanks

Check that the length of your entire project is less than two minutes.

how to lessen length?

Dexcon wrote on 9/1/2020, 3:27 AM

how to lessen length?

By using your editing skills to reduce the length of the project on the timeline to under 2 minutes. If your project is much longer than 2 minutes, save the project under a new name and then delete the excess video and audio until there is less than 2 minutes on the timeline. Please take into account that the aim of the trial version is simply to give you a sample (trial) of the rendering options.

You need to remove anything and everything after the end of the 'less than 2 minutes' project - and that includes markers. The markers on the timeline are making the project longer than 2 minutes.

As @Dexcon says, after a bit less than two minutes, there must be nothing in your project. Press Ctrl+End to see where your project actually ends.

where the marker still moving? I think @NAZIRASYAFIKAH-ROZLAN is confused by the playhead (which he calls the marker) automatically playing a few seconds after the end of the project. I think that he thinks because of this, that the project is more than 2 minutes.

I think there is no need to remove everything after the 2 min mark to be able to make a testrender with the trial. Just make a loop region (less than 2 min) of the part of your project that you want to testrender and render that loop region.

Re the total project needing to be under 2 minutes, vkmast has provided this self-explanatory link a few times this year re the 2 mins issue:

I've figured it out if anyone cares about this issue or looks for an answer.

I wasn't notified of this limitation until I tried to render the video, which may not be fair, but it's a trial version after all.

So I deleted all media after the 2 minute mark, but it had the same issue. I couldn't find anything, all tracks were empty. Well, it looked empty at least.

I have never seen this option mentioned before, found this by accident.

Go into Options<Quantize to Frames<Show Unquantized Event Edges

It will show you the events that you cannot see otherwise for some reason. Take a look at your tracks once again, it may show something you haven't seen before.

You must remove the newly discovered events or move them within the 2 minute mark. Rendering should work.

I hope I helped.

Robert Johnston wrote on 12/26/2023, 12:10 PM

@Himer-Peter That won't always work. You can get a list of events on the timeline. Open the Details window, CTRL-ALT-4, or from the menu View > Window > Edit Details. Change the filter from "selected events" to just "events". You will get a list of all events on the timeline, track-by-track, and their position on the timeline.

CTRL-ALT-END will take you to the last event on timeline.
