No worries. I'm looking forward to getting back to my computer in a couple of days to see if I still have AC3 Pro in VP12/13. Not impressed that's it's been taken out of VP14 though, without even appearing in the release notes. I guess it may be down to licensing expense. Sony may have had a long-standing deal that Dolby is not willing to pass on to MAGIX without $$$, and MAGIX possibly took the view that DVD is a dwindling format and they could ride it out. Who knows. Sucks though, especially if V14 strips it out of previous versions too. It's a vital tool of the trade for many of us.

Hmm, here I have the situation that the AC3 Pro plugin still is available in Vegas Pro 13 after I have installed Vegas Pro 14, but not in Vegas Pro 14. And it can still be customized here.

So I wonder what is the difference.

For what it's worth, I just noticed the RealMedia codec is also gone from version 14, so maybe it is just a licensing thing.

This deserves an official answer since too important . ( at least for me for my biggest client ) .

No that was not the point and for sure not the question.

Here users report that after installing Vegas Pro 14 the AC3 Pro enocoder is also gone in their old Vegas Pro 12/13. But I have here the finding that the AC3 Pro encoder is still there in Vegas Pro 13 (see the snapshoot above).

And I do not have here Edit my dear, but in my system is Vegas Pro 13 with the DVDA Pro 6, but also Vegas Pro 14 with the DVDA 7 installed. I know quite well that the AC3 Pro encoder was delivered by installing the old DVDA, but that does not bring back the AC3 Pro Encoder to Vegas Pro 14. This encoder is gone in Vegas Pro 14.

So the solution is: if one needs the AC3 Pro encoder, then he has to stick to Vegas Pro 13, at least at the moment. And the AC3 Pro encoder is still available in Vegas Pro 13 after the installation of Vegas Pro 14 - at least here.

If there are additional questions for clearificatin I would recommend contact the customer support. A solution will not be found in a customer discussions.

I'll be sticking with Sony Vegas v13 for the foreseeable future, as far as Magix Vegas v14, I'm going to sit this one out. I have always upgraded within hours of each new release, not this time.

The fact and the point is that Vegas Pro 14 does not have the ac3 Pro encoder.

I said you need Vegas Pro 13, which you confirmed in your comment.

That is not a question of wavelength but it is a technical question only.

I wonder who beside you has mentioned Edit at all. Because if someone tells us that his AC3 Pro installation is gone, then he never ever had the Edit version of VP12/13 but the Pro version with the DVDA 5 or 6.

We know by now that the AC3 Pro encoder is not installed with Vegas Pro 14, and it seems to be also true that he cannot be recovered simply by copying the AC3 Pro files from Vegas Pro 13 to 14. Sad but that seems to be the facts at the moment.

But the really interesting point is if the AC3 Pro encoder can be lost if one installs Vegas Pro 14. And that is something that I have not seen in my installation at all. And I do not understand why that should happen, because typically Vegas versions can exist side by side.

So that is the matter, but not wavelength.

I managed to use my Dolby AC3Pro encoder of my Sony Vegas Pro 13 installation with Magix Pro 14.......

But at cost of (temporarely) losing my AC3Studio encoder in Vegas Pro 14 and after some file manipulation between the two installations (Vegas Pro 13 en 14).

I don't know if this is illegal but I paid for all (Sony Vegas Pro 13, including the Dolby licenses and Magix Vegas Pro 14 encoder). So basically it is using something in a different way I already have paid for.

I doubt to publish the details because it can raise a lot of questions if people don't know what they are doïng.
Hint for the advanced : disguise a copy of your AC3Pro encoder of Pro 13 as the AC3Studio encoder of Vegas Pro 14 (substitution). I didn't say anything.................

Oldsmoke.    Did you copy ac3 pro pro 13 to 14 that work?.    Right now I do not understand why my VP11 Pro AC3 encoder gone as well.   However,  I have my other PC that have VP11 and VP13 but have not yet install VP14 on it.

I copied the ac3plug folder to VP14, renamed it to ac3studioplug, opened it and renamed just the dll to ac3studioplug.

I am sure the registry can be hacked too to allow both versions again but I don't need the studio version anyways.

For some reason it it not working for me.  here are the steps I did as follow.  I download your ac3plug rar file and extract it.  I went in Vegas and find the ac3studioplug and delete it.  I copy and paste in the downloaded ac3plug folder into Vegas folder.  I then remane folder to ac3studioplug.  I open the folder and remane just the dll to ac3studioplug.   Exit and restart the PC and open Vegas 14.  the Dolby Digital AC-3 not showing up in render.   So I had to delete all what I did and restored the ac3studioplug.  Now Dolby Digital AC3 show up in render.

Yes, it works, and it even immediately picked up my "volume preservation for DVD" template from previous versions. Thanks for the tip.

With respect you probably shouldn't share links to that DLL openly on the forum. It looks like the AC3-Pro codec hasn't been licensed by MAGIX and is not offered in VP14, but that DLL would enable new users (who don't have previous versions with the AC3-Pro codec) to get it working. I don't think MAGIX or Dolby would take kindly to that. But I think it should be OK to share instructions for users who have a licence for older versions as well as VP14.

Those steps sound OK to me Bruce. Note the file size of the DLL is 5,366 KB. Maybe something weird is up with your system which is why the codec disappeared in your older versions of Vegas. I have VP10, 12, 13 and 14 on my machine and AC3-Pro was still showing in 10,12 and 13 after I installed 14.

One thing I did notice is that VP12 and 13 were very slow in letting me modify a custom template, so much so that I thought the programs had hung and I killed them with the Task Manager. Not sure if that was happening before I installed VP14 or not but it's a bit weird.

I'd proceed with care in any case and wait for the next build/update/whatever they decide to call it.
