Controlling subtitle box

As I enter subtitles, the dimensions of the bounding box seem to have a mind of their own. DAS reformats the text--ferinstance: one sufficiently short line into 3 lines (the last with only one word on it--ugh!). I don't seem to be able to adjust the dimensions of the box. Or maybe there's some better way to deal with subtitles than DAS?

It sounds like you have the font size set to Auto. When it's set to Auto, the text will automatically resize to fit in the box you've created for it.

Set the drop-down menu that now says Auto to a specific number and your text will remain the same size but your text box will resize as you type.

Sadly I already have a font size selected (not 'auto')--same uncontrollable bounding box.

Well, apparently this feature is useless, as subtitles that are short enough to comfortably fit on one line get reformatted to 5 words on one line and 1 on the next. Not acceptable.

I'm not sure why it's not working for you, ww.

It works just as I described for me.

BTW, why add subtitles in DVD Architect Studio? Its function as a subtitler (at least the Studio version) is very limited. Why not add the subtitles to the original video in Vegas?

Works for me too.
If you want to follow Steve Grisetti's advise, there's this recent thread with detailed instructions by MSmart about adding subtitles in VMS
