Crashes on Splash Screen at "Creating Windows"

So, I've been using Sony Movie Studio 13 for about a month now, and it's been working just fine. Tonight, I accidentally hid my video preview, so I went into Options -> Preferences and restored everything to the default settings. It said I needed to restart Movie Studio in order for the changes to be applied, so I closed it, and tried to reopen it. Now it continuously crashes on the splash screen at "Creating Windows".

Here's the error report:

I'm running Windows 8.1 64-bit on a Toshiba Satellite P75-A7200. I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling Sony Movie Studio 13, restarting the computer, running it as an administrator, and running it in compatibility mode, none of which fixed the problem. Any ideas?

That used to be a problem when some New Blue stuff was installed. Think it is fixed now with latest New Blue releases. Do you have New Blue stuff?

Nope, I having nothing from New Blue on this computer, or any other.

Just a guess, but have you checked your Quicktime installation? There is some sort of strange dependency between Movie Studio & Quicktime. I've had obscure problems like this resolved by installing the latest version of Quicktime - even though I never use it.

Yup, I do have the latest version of Quicktime. I also uninstalled it and reinstalled Quicktime yesterday after the problem started, just to be sure.

Have you tried the SCS KB article 2744 advice?
Close the program. Now press CTRL+SHIFT while double-clicking on the program's icon to launch it. Continue to hold the CTRL & SHIFT keys until the program is fully up and loaded.

As in here
