Creating surround sound Blu-ray discs constant tone

Berty wrote on 8/4/2018, 4:45 AM

I am failing to successfully create Blu-ray discs of my video project.

I create the following output files in Vegas PRO 15:-

MainConcept MPEG-2 "DVD Architect PAL Widescreen video stream"

MainConcept MPEG-2 "Blu-ray 1920x1080-50i, 25 Mbps video stream"

Dolby Digital AC-3 Studio "5.1 Surround DVD"

If I create a project in DVD architect using the DVD mpg it picks up the AC3 correctly and I can successfully burn a DVD.

If I create a project in DVD Achitect using the Blu-ray m2v file it also picks up the AC3 correctly and previews OK. The Blu-ray burns successfully and the video is fine, but I just get either a constant tone or intermittent tone and clicks on the soundtrack. If I create an ISO rather than burn a disk I load the m2ts file it creates and sure enough there is a constant tone for 2 mins and then some identifiable noises all either pitch shifted or sped up.

The fact the ISO is incorrect means this is an issue with DVD Architect rather than any incompatible hardware.

If I take the same m2v and AC3 files and use a different burning/authoring product it works perfectly.

It doesn't seem to matter how long or what the source video is.

I have logged a call with Magix, but does anyone have any experience of this?

Cheers,

Berty

What version of DVD Architect are you using?

Berty wrote on 8/4/2018, 9:27 AM

It's PRO 6. Build 237. Can't seem to find a later build of v6

Just downloaded a trial of version 7 and it seems to work.

Interestingly when creating the DVD in v6 it says the audio file is "not compliant with the disc format" and recompresses it. I suspect this is where it goes wrong.

In version 7 it doesn't do this, just cracks on and burns the disk (as it's an .ac3 I believe it is compliant)

I would rather not have to fork out more money for the latest version just to get the program I have paid for to do what it should though.....

If you bought Vegas Pro 15 Edit, unfortunately it does not include Vegas DVD Architect (7) like the "standard" Vegas Pro 15 purchase option. (A cheaper way now to get DVD A 7.)

Yep - I have Vegas Pro 15 Edit. I assumed that DVD architect 6 would work. I think I'll have to see what Magix say....

If I have to buy the product again I might just switch to something else as this is quite annoying...

You might be hardpressed to find a Bluray author program in this price range.

You spent your money and time setting up a new home theater system, but a CD,DVD, or Blu-ray Disc that provides test tones, or by using a test tone. and you can easily get the more help that how to connect hp printer to wifi router and get the help for the related problems.

Er, thanks Caroline. Are you sure you meant that reply for this query? Not sure I follow.

Magix have come back to me and their stance is "Yes - your version doesn't do what it said it would but you'll just have to pay full whack for the new version that does."

I will not be taking them up on their kind offer and will consider this level of customer care when purchasing new software from Magix.

A shame.
