Distorted audio

Recently whenever I add an audio track when playing back I get high pitched and distorted sound, a bit like the chipmonks. Any ideas as its driving me mad. I'm using Vegas17 Platinum. Only been in the last couple of weeks

Are the source files MP3?

When the sound is pitched up and the speed is increased, that is usually a sample rate issue with the sound card or interface.. for instance playing back an 44.1 kHz file @ 48 k.

Try reset delete cache
