Does not create Disc as designed

cspvideo wrote on 12/26/2016, 2:43 AM

I created a Blu-Ray project using the newest version of DVD-A. For my menu backgrounds I created a graphic in Photoshop. In preview everything looked fine. The disc built without any error indicated. The setup I chose was to use AVC and a bit rate of 16mbps. I burned the disc. When inserted in a player the menu backgrounds are not present. It's black. The menu options are present and navigable but no background is shown. The files that are the actual project all play. In addition I brought in an animated logos which I set as introduction media. This is also are black, Audio is present but no video. I designed the disc in the previous version of Architect to start and then opened that project in the new version and saved the disc design under a new name.

Have you tried preparing it on the previous DVDA version? What is your previous version?

The answers are: I used version 7 and it did not work properly. I am using 6 now to re-create the disc and I will post the results. I suspect that version 6 will properly create the disc. I've had several issues show up in version 7 that a remedied by dropping back and using version 6.

cspvideo wrote on 12/28/2016, 2:06 PM

I just tried re-burning the disc as designed in DVDA version 6. All of the video elements including introduction media, the menu backgrounds and the videos show up HOWEVER, none of the audio works. The audio was rendered using the AC3 codec in Vegas 14 and I've seen notes about that behavior elsewhere.

Is there a 64 bit version of DVDA?

Cornico wrote on 12/28/2016, 4:57 PM

No

cspvideo wrote on 12/28/2016, 5:15 PM

Thanks. In addition to the issues I reported already I believe I discovered another. The Magix version of DVDA no longer burns Bd-re discs, rewritable Blu Ray discs.

EricLNZ wrote on 12/28/2016, 7:26 PM

Both the Studio and Pro versions of DVDA are advertised as burning DVD and Blu-ray so I'd be very surprised if they don't burn Blu-ray. Perhaps I've misunderstood and you are saying it doesn't burn rewritable discs which are BD-RE. Does it burn BD-R? If so in what way doesn't it burn them.

It also seems you cannot purchase DVDA on its own now.

cspvideo wrote on 12/28/2016, 7:30 PM

Typo. BD-RE cannot be burned. BD-R works. In the previous version both worked.

try create as ISO image, then burn to disc from that ISO image.

I can burn the bd-re from the ISO created using the previous version of DVDA but not the current version.

Did you try changing the driver at Options/Preferences?

cspvideo wrote on 12/29/2016, 8:17 AM

I do not see where there is any driver to change in that area or any other in Architect. I also went through preferences and options in both the prior version and the current version. They match.

vkmast wrote on 12/29/2016, 8:36 AM

DVD A Pro 5.2 and 6.0 have an option to toggle "Use legacy disc drivers" in Options / Prefs. / Burning, Advanced. Also in Prefs. / General you could "Skip drive database; autodetect drive capabilities." Have these options been dropped from DVD A 7?

cspvideo wrote on 12/29/2016, 9:42 AM

In Options>Preferences>Burning there is no Advanced button in the current version.

Skip drive database exists in the newest version. It is currently unchecked. I will see what happens if I check it.

Cornico wrote on 12/29/2016, 11:20 AM

Are you looking at the right place?
I have the last version from Sony (DVDA 6, build 60) and the last version from Magix (DVDA 7, build 61).
Both have that option in Options/Preferences/ Burning "Use legacy disc drivers"

cspvideo wrote on 12/29/2016, 11:46 AM

I found that. Thanks. It doesn't make a difference in terms of the BD-RE. However, I can open a "file explorer" folder from Windows 10, Right Click on the BD-RE and then check erase. Once it is erased, the disc will burn. The options to have the disc erased from inside the software are grayed out. I am currently burning the test disc on the BD-RE and will be checking it shortly.

cspvideo wrote on 12/29/2016, 12:12 PM

The BD-RE issue is resolved by work around. If I erase the disc using Windows I can burn it in DVDA. I will call this issue resolved but I have a new one.
