DVD Architect 6.0 won't burn BluRay

sguandal@gmail.com wrote on 9/14/2013, 9:14 AM
A project for BluRay (40 minutes in 1920x1080) created in Vegas Pro 12.0 will never end burning: after 14 hours is still at 93%, stuck on "rendering Audio" forever. Tried once already canceling and restarting all over, with same results.
My system should be pretty strong: CPU is Intel i7-3770 @ 3.40 GHz with 16.0GB of memory, 64-bit, Windows 8.
WHAT'S WRONG????

Are you using COMPLIANT video and audio files from Vegas? Your description says not.

Once you give it the right files, it will Prepare and Burn in a matter of minutes.
Don't use DVDA Pro 6. It's not yet ready for prime time. 5.2 or 5.0 will do everything you want.

Interesting! Why shouldn't I use DVDA 6.0? And how do I go about getting DVDA 5.2 or 5.0? Haven't they be replaced when I upgraded to 6.0?

As for the files being compliant, I believe they are: the video clip has been created as a .avi file using in Vegas a rendering that matched the project (1920x1080), and the audio is in 5.1 surround.

I'll take it one at a time:

-- DVDA 6 is broken for many users. DVDA 5 and 5.2 are available in the Updates section.

-- You will render separate, compliant video and audio files using the DVD Architect templates in Vegas. You will not want to use AVI. You do not want the video and audio to render a SECOND TIME in DVDA See the article linked above. It takes only a few minutes if you do it right.

-- Burning a DVD? Use the MPEG-2 DVD Architect video template and DVD Dolby AC3 Pro audio template, or PCM if you wish.

-- Burning a BluRay? Use the Sony AVC BluRay video template most closely matching your source, or MPEG-2 BluRay video template most closely matching your source, and Dolby AC3 Pro audio template, or PCM if you wish.

-- Set your Properties correctly in DVD Architect. That's all it takes.

Best of luck.

I think I would be happier if I had become a dentist . . .

Although I've never had a root canal, my guess is making a disc with DVD-A is far less painful.

If you owned DVD-A 5.2, you can reinstall that alongside DVD-A 6.0. I have both installed. Both work fine for me although others have had problems in DVD-A 6.0. I only use DVD-A 5.2 for my "real" projects until there is consensus on 6.0 working fine.

If you are unsure how to render compliant files from Vegas for DVD-A, follow Musicvid's excellent advice and be sure to check out the free tutorials here:

Once you have the hang of it, rendering compliant files is no big deal. Having compliant files will make your DVD-A render faster and the quality will be better too.
