DVDA Pro 6 slow compared to 5?

I upgraded from Movie Studio and DVDA 5 to Vegas Pro and DVDA Pro 6 recently. This is my first Blu-ray project on the new software. I've done this many times before with Movie Studio and DVDA5 - yes blu-rays on both and about the same size projects. DVDA5 would take about 10-15 minutes to "Prepare" a BD iso file for this size project.

I have a Blu-ray project. I produced an m2v file using Vegas Pro MainConcept with a Blu-ray labeled template. Same template I have used with Movie Studio and DVDA5 before I upgraded. The Video file is about 12GB, separate audio stream of about 800MB. DVDA is set to target Blu-ray 25GB disc.

I pulled the video into DVDA Pro 6, designed a menu with a single scenes submenu. Then I tried to prepare the disk. Optimize shows that it has to "recompress" the menus (expected and small) but the main video file has green checks next to video and audio streams. If I click on them it says "No" to recompress required.

It's been working on building the iso file for 30 minutes already and says it has over an hour left to go. It should not be recompressing - Optimize say it was not required!!! Anybody know what it is doing? It's only using 12% CPU and the disc is an SSD with lots of space left. The disk light is just flashing a little so it is not being hit hard.

It must not be re encoding as it took Vegas over 80 minutes using all cores and 100% CPU.

Ok, update - it just finished in 35 minutes! This same process only took 10-15 minutes in DVDA 5. Any ideas why?

Thanks!

As often mentioned in this forum, DO NOT USE DVDAPro 6 for any serious work where as that ... version introduced bugs that do not exist in previous version 5.2.

This may or may not be your current issue, but better to stick with versions 5.0b or 5.2

There is no reason to use DVDA 6 if you are not making 3D discs.

While agreeing with the two replies above, please note that the OP upgraded from the Movie Studio line to Vegas Pro recently. So it's unlikely he has any previous versions of DVD A Pro and must refer to DVD A Studio 5 with his "DVD A 5". I haven't seen an option to buy a standalone license of DVD A Pro 5.2 from SCS, though DVD A Pro 6 is now available separately. Maybe he should try to negotiate a free "downgrade" to Pro 5.2 with SCS.

With DVDA 6 installed, OP can render audio with AC3 Pro 5.1 in Vegas, and use the files in DVDA Studio.

Is there another limitation to using DVDA Studio?

Yes, I did upgrade from Studio and DVDA 5 Studio not Vegas and DVDA PRO. Actually I bought the full version (not an upgrade) of Vegas 13 Pro because it was $2 cheaper than the upgrade...

I downloaded DVDA Pro 5.2 but it will not accept my key. I guess I could ask Sony but that's a pain.

The problem I had with 5 Studio is that while it would allow AC3 Audio on DVDs it would not on Blu-rays and I found no way to force it to. Even if I had an AC3 audio stream it would convert it.

@jrappl,
DVD A Studio 5 online (F1) Help:
"Audio format: ...choose a setting to indicate the format whether you want to use PCM Stereo audio, AC-3 Stereo audio, or AC-3 5.1-surround audio.
Only PCM Stereo audio is available for Blu-ray Disc projects."

DVD A Pro 5.2 and 6.0 online Help:
"Audio format: ...choose a setting to indicate the format whether you want to use PCM Stereo audio, AC-3 Stereo audio, or AC-3 5.1-surround audio."

As for limitations using DVD A Studio, there used to be an SCS KB comparison article, but they seem to have dropped it. The list below is from an old Steve G post.
"A couple of features only available in Pro:"
+ DVD A Studio does not allow multiple audio tracks.
