Edit multiple events

With pictures images dropped onto track 2 timeline, to keep them more visibly separated from video events, I want to edit a bunch at once, or apply effects to all at once.

Such as, setting a preset of 16:9 widescreen, or the same transition effect, or to lengthen a set of clips to 4 or 5 seconds - all at once not individually.

This is my first Movie Studio project and I'm learning...

Well, setting up your project for 16:9 is pretty easy. You set that overall for your project anyway, not for your individual media clips or events.

Changing the length of several events so that they're all the same length is a bit tricker.

But applying a transition to several events at once is pretty simple. Simply select all of the events on your timeline (Ctrl+a) and drag a transition between any two. It will then be applied to all.

My project has mostly 16x9 1920x1080 .mov clips from my Canon DSLR. I also have a variety of photo .jpg files from four different sources (2 cell phones, my DSLR and another DSLR camera. Most all photo images I plan to resize to HD 1920x1080 where that works using the pan and zoom preset for that.

So I started my project with the setting that showed up as default - "HD 1080-60i (1920x1080 29.970fps)" before loading in anything.

Later on in mid project, I tried the setting "Match Media Video" and pointed it at one of my .mov files. The only difference I see between the "custom" setting that generated and the first one is Field Order was changed to "None (progressive scan)" from "upper field first".

Everything edits and plays fine in either setting it appears, but I wonder if I may have screwed anything up for later on by changing in mid stream. I plan to leave it on custom based on the match media results unless you suggest otherwise.

I have just watched your online tutorials and ordered your Movie Studio and Architect Studio books from Amazon.

Match media settings to your .mov clips.
Adjust the cropping for one jpeg the way you want them all.
Copy the adjusted jpeg events, select the rest of your images, and Paste Atrributes.
That's the easy way.

Although, in my experience, matching media settings doesn't always work so well with MOV files.

May or may not be so, but I suggested pasting attributes to the image events.
