error code 24

John-Guy wrote on 5/18/2020, 7:43 PM

I'm getting "error code 24 - the serial number has already been registered to another e-mail address"

I've got the new Vegas 17, and it seems as if several codecs don't work as well as other functions...,

PC, Windows 10 and an old version of Vegas 14 is installed on the same computer... would HUGELY appreciate any assistance

( I'm kinda wondering if I should uninstall the Vegas 14 program... hmmmmm )

Thanx!!! John

You don't need to uninstall VMS14.

Presumably you are trying to install Vegas Movie Studio 17 not Vegas Pro 17? Did you purchase it by download from Magix?

Yup!!! Purchased a download version from Magix... since there’s only a difference of $15 between the upgrade version i purchased and the “completely new” version, I’d happily make up the difference but wouldn’t even know who to contact...

Both the upgrade version and the "completely new" version are full versions and there's no difference between them. The difference is in pricing. "You can upgrade at a reduced price with a previous version or other authorized product. Please have your login details or serial number ready."

Re error code -24: please read this thread. If it it does not help, you need to do this.

I know... but if I got a “completely new” version... there would be no way it could be associated with another email address... I’m thinking the problem is I may have registered my version 14 using a different email address on an old laptop...

Most likely.

I definitely have to talk to an actual person though… Too complicated for a mere thread Like this.... (If I wanted to get a rebate for the upgrade version in order to purchase a “fresh” version)

✅ this may sound crazy, but I did notice that on my laptop I registered VMS 14 to my email address using all capital letters… Whereas I registered VMS 17 on my desktop using all small case letters... could this be the issue???
