Learning auto ripple is one of the very best things you can do as a Vegas Pro user. Powerful feature but a nightmare if you don't understand what's happening.

I agree about the A&B editing. Useless feature to me. I agree with @Former user .. Don't double click on the event edges. Link below is brief Tutorial on A&B editing uses.

Thank you... knowing about the ripple tool makes all the difference. Now, if we can only get Magix to allow for disabling of auto edit mode enabled by default...

What function are you calling "auto edit" mode?

Actually the default auto-ripple mode of Vegas Pro is off.

I meant a setting to disable the "Expand Track Layers" function that is enabled by default. Lots of support for that in other forums. Also on my wishlist: the ability to set event length precisely with a right-click, rather than using the cumbersome method described here:

Would also be nice to set the default length of media generated items, such as colors to use as markers for setting clip spacing, etc., as well as being able to lock the size of a clip to prevent accidental stretching.

There are scripts available which do this.

"Would also be nice to set the default length of media generated items"

You can define the default length in Options/Preferences/Editing, the still length does also affect the default length of generated media.

Please read point 28 here: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-faqs-and-troubleshooting-guides--104787/

"Expanded Edit Mode" and "Expand Track Layers" are different features. No setting to disable the Exp. Edit Mode.

That is an awkward way to set length, but I agree, you should just be able to right-click and select. I find it quicker to drag the edge than the method that video describes.

I am not sure why you are getting into expanded edit mode so easily. I never have accidentally enabled it.

Is your mouse set to double-click on certain operations (such as hold the mouse down)?
