Extruding text (3d text - tracking onto objects such as houses)

KevinKyo-Nightwolf wrote on 7/14/2022, 11:11 AM

Hello!

Im Kevin,

Im VERY new to editing and currently working on my first full length edit for "call of duty" and i am trying to add some 3d text that tracks building wall or rooftop, sort of a "billboard" esk style.

Ive found the extruding text which i believe is the right tool for the job (correct me if im wrong because i honestly got no clue), But after watching some tutorials i am still not able to use this tool.

Ive got experience in blender and can do this easy there, but knowing theres features within vegas 17 pro i would like to learn how to use them as efficiently as possible.

Is there anyone that could help me? etc make a detailed tutorial on this feature? Most of tutorials i find is either for vegas 19, 14 and before.

Thank you for any and all help!

heres an example of what im going for if you check the intro to kaiser edits on this video:

the text you see there, just onto a building side or rooftop

PS: if relevant i have BCC addon.

@KevinKyo-Nightwolf I'm pretty sure that motion tracking wasn't introduced until VP18. I've looked in the VP17 UI and can't find it. No doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Motion Tracking was introduced in Vegas Pro 17 - it's under under Tools/Scripting. The basics of it was to track the target via bezier masking and then link that masking track to a title created in Titles & Text. I found it worked quite well at the time. Although I didn't do it, there is a method to link the track to an image or a video event. Details in pages 265 and 266 of VP17's user manual (accessible in VP17 via the Help menu item under the 'Contents and Index' item).

You should be able to download the .pdf version of the manual from your MAGIX account > My products (under VEGAS Pro 17, Downloads: Instructions).
