Few general Q on VMS14

I'm still reviewing VMS14P trail,

- In many years of editing I never had the functions of "loop" or " end Freeze" in regarding a clip length. Personally I don't see any practical use for them as defaults , My practical tool for "short" clip is using time starch, or my selection of the freeze frame. I found where to untick the loop, but how I can remove the end freeze?

- Is there a way to save few media files that will be loaded always for use? (like png's objects and general clips) or one needs to reload all in every new project? Do I have to make a custom "base" project and use it?

- If I want to move a clip from one track to another but keeping it at the same time point, using just the mouse can be inaccurate, is there a key or a function that by using it I can drag that clip up/down but locking it left/right ?

- What about replacing a clip, say I have a clip on a track but I need to replace it with the other keeping the same duration and position and no ripple other, like when you replace a 'place holder'. (On my other NLE I could do so by holding CTRL and drag)

- Is there a "nudge" key? if I want to nudge a clip a frame L/R

I'm must admit that so far after just few hours I'm very impressed with VMS14P. I didn't dive yet into masking, and why the hell all is as "events"?? Is it because Events Videography is the target users for the program?

Thank you.

I'm not aware of any.

"What about replacing a clip, say I have a clip on a track but I need to replace it with the other keeping the same duration and position and no ripple other, like when you replace a 'place holder'."

This is what "Takes" are meant for. Drag another clip with the right mouse button over an existing Event in the timeline and select "Add as Take" from the context menu. After you've done you can easily switch between both clips by pressing key "T" when the Event is selected.

"Is there a "nudge" key?"

What is meant by "nudge"?

No, so a base project is what I use. Not only does it contain such files but also has the tracks I normally use set up and labelled.

If I want to move a clip from one track to another but keeping it at the same time point, using just the mouse can be inaccurate, is there a key or a function that by using it I can drag that clip up/down but locking it left/right ?

Use the numeric keyboard. There are several useful keys for precise editing. Look at Help/Keyboard Shortcuts and the 'Event selecting and editing section'.

What I do for precisely moving Events is placing the cursor to the point it should be moved to.
For example if I want to move an Event from track # 2 to track # 3 while keeping same position, I first click onto the Event's edge which moves the timeline cursor to that position. Then when I move the Event the snapping function makes the clip to snap to the precise position when dragging it near to it.

Thank you, I'm still struggling with terminology here, EVENT,TAKE,ENVELOPE ... never heard about them in NLE.

- Marco, by nudge I mean moving clip position by 1 frame, like when you want to sync action to audio

I just printed the shortcuts book to review .

Thank you.

"moving clip position by 1 frame"

This can be done by selecting the clip, then using keys "1" and "3" on the numeric key pad.

why the **** all is as "events"??

Event: An event is an occurrence of a media file on the timeline. (From MVMS14 P Help, Glossary) Or a looong v. http://www.mmdv.com/vegastips/index.php?title=Clip_or_Event
