Generated media: Text

I place a Titles and Text event on the timeline. I can move it around in the preview window when media properties are open, but the text moves outside the box with handles as I move it around. I don't remember this previously. I guess I don't understand placing text at all. Can someone help me understand the relationship between the text and the text box (with handles)?

If it worked before as the Help says ("When your text event is selected in the timeline, you can drag the text box in the Video Preview window to position it"), try resetting. Often worth a try at least.
"If a program isn’t working right, just reinstalling it won’t necessarily fix it. You may need to reset the program to its default settings."
