Help please starting a project

I have a son with learning difficulties so the instruction manual is exceedingly hard to understand.

He and I are used to Pinnacle studio 15 but have hated the unreliability and have moved to Sony MS Plat. 12

The problem is, in pinnacle we simply imported a video from the hard drive, went to libraries and added stills, finally it was easy to create a "Menu" at the start and create chapters.

I and he can work out "we think" how to get the video and stills in but are having no luck with finding out how to create the main "Menu" where you click on it to take you to the different chapters and then return.

ANY help would be so very much appreciated as we never had "DVD Architect AND the separate "studio" parts before

Thank you

Are you trying to edit video in Movie Studio or create a DVD menu system in DVD Architect? They are two different programs that do different things.

Meantime, why not start with my free 8 part Basic Training tutorial series for Movie Studio? You can find these tutorials on the left side of this page.

For DVD Architect Studio, I have a free 3-part Basic Training tutorial series here:

Besides the Show Me How tutorials inside the programs and on e.g. Steve's site, you might consider Steve's books on MSP12 and DVDAS 5. Probably much more approachable than the SCS manuals. You'll find reviews and previews on Amazon sites.

When you've dragged your video to the DVD preview area you get a link to play the entire movie. If you right-mouse-button click on that link a menu pops up and one of the options is "Insert scene select menu". Do this and another link shows up on the main screen, which you can then open up and see and edit the scene selection menu.

For clarity, Chienworks advice above refers to DVD Architect.

Thank you all, as I said my son has learning difficulties so what may be simple for others is hard for him

He has imported photos and video no probs, now needs to create a "menu" with the appropriate links as you would get on a shop bought dvd

thank you all

just saw this, did the previous tutorials answer your questions?

FWIW, I went through this same exercise a few years ago and used DVD Architect infrequently enough that I wrote up a Word document explaining all the steps I took to do exactly what you want to do. If you're still having trouble it might be worth a read.

Not sure if I can attach it to a reply in this forum, but if you don't mind giving me your e-mail address I could send it directly.

Not generally recommended to give e-mail addresses on the forums. Some users "allow other forum users to email you". This is an option in My Account / Forum Settings and makes possible to "click name to email" on the forum Profile page (click user name)..
