I want to make the text appear letter by letter like shown in this link: https://streamable.com/go7mw Is there an video effect for this or do i have to create new text files and add them 1 by 1.
@sascha-f - Looking closely at that example to me it’s rather a Reveal, rather than 1 by 1, one letter at a time. The Letters appear quite Static and I can see the next Letter to be revealed in-line, ready to be revealed. If this is the case then I’m with @Dimitrios in the use of a Tracked Mask Reveal.
Agree with Grazie. That's not really letter by letter, but a mask reveal. All you have to do is:
1) Have the text you want to reveal on Track 1.
2) Click on the Transitions tab.
3) Choose Gradient wipes.
4) Then select Linear Left-Right and drag it onto the front of your clip on Track 1.
5) If you want to control the speed of the reveal, drag your cursor over the top left corner of the clip until you see the Fade In Offset, then just click and drag to control the speed of the reveal.
@karma17 - Annnd..... If yah wanna get real Funky, add a Transition Envelope and apply a mix of HOLD ( this’ll give a staccato effect) or SLOW or LINEAR or go completely nutz n bonkers and REVERSE the TranniEnvel. Marvellous 😆
As with others, the example given in the original post looks like a feathered travelling mask/wipe reveal.
If you want a true letter by letter reveal, a 3rd party titler will likely be needed such as NewBlueFX's Titler Pro which can definitely do letter by letter, and with options about how the animations are enacted. The downside - it is a purchase.
@Dexcon Pro Type Titler can do the letter by letter effect just fine, a true typed on effect, as long as you can run it on your system no need for another purchase.
@karma17That's a cool trick, I like these little hacks you can do with transitions
“Adding a transition progress envelope Normally, a transition progresses from 0 to 100% in a linear fashion over the length of the transition. A transition progress envelope gives you complete control over a transition: you can hold, reverse, and repeat individual transitions.
1. Select a transition.
2. From the Insert menu, choose Video Envelopes, and then choose Transition Progress from the submenu.
3. Add points and adjust the fade curves as desired. For more information, see "Adjusting envelopes" on page 246”
I think that's the 3rd thing you've shown me I didn't know existed.
@Dimitrios - Ah, but I merely stand on the “Shoulders of Giants”: John Meyer, DSE, Edward Troxel’s, Peter Haller, farss, Nick, Altavic, MusicVid and the Rofrano ...... ScorpionProd.... so very very many.
Well sure but you stick out more to me, well except for Jon Rofrano. I used to have another account on the old Sony board so I remember seeing "Grazie" posted everywhere.
@Dimitrios >20K discerning posts/comments from him on these forums since early 2002, so one of the real Giants. We're lucky to have several of them still contributing.
