How can I make my preview smoother and my rendering faster?

Hi guys! So i recently had an upgrade from a old computer to a pretty powerful laptop and I don't feel like the performance when using Sony Vegas 15 has increased very much. Here are my specs:

  • Intel i7 7th gen.
  • NVIDIA GTX 1060 6 GB
  • 16gb RAM DDR4
  • 256gb SSD + 1tb HDD

Thanks in advance.

What kind of performance did you think had to increase?

Probably those he mentions in the heading. Maybe the main FAQ list has sections with suggestions (e.g. #22). (And there's still no Sony Vegas Pro 15, 14, 16, 17)

For the better preview ( on 4K AVC or HEVC media) and faster rendering of those OP can read this : https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vp17-what-a-big-difference--116540/

and thus is better to do an upgrade to VP 17

From the limited benchmarking performed on this forum a 9900k + 2080ti looks good. Note that it has been recognized by Vegas dev's that more detailed benchmarking would be a very useful tool in speccing new systems. As of now, all anyone can say is that better hardware is generally faster, but nobody knows by how much.

forget 15. this ship has sailed if you want GPU acceleration you need to upgrade to 17.

my current Win10/64 system (latest drivers, water cooled) :

Intel Coffee Lake i5 Hexacore (unlocked, but not overclocked) 4.0 GHz on Z370 chipset board,

32GB (4x8GB Corsair Dual Channel DDR4-2133) XMP-3000 RAM,

Intel 600series 512GB M.2 SSD system drive running Win10/64 home automatic driver updates,

Crucial BX500 1TB EDIT 3D NAND SATA 2.5-inch SSD

2x 4TB 7200RPM NAS HGST data drive,

Intel HD630 iGPU - currently disabled in Bios,

nVidia GTX1060 6GB, always on latest [creator] drivers. nVidia HW acceleration enabled.

main screen 4K/50p 1ms scaled @175%, second screen 1920x1080/50p 1ms.
