My Sony Vegas Pro 13 has stopped working but I have arrangements I need to finalise and render. What version should I get that will support these? Thanks.
Vegas Pro 13 or newer. The current version is VEGAS Pro 20 and should open the Vegas Pro 13 files just fine. To test, you can install the current trial and try opening the old projects - just don't save them without changing the file name or you'll have to open them in 20 the next time.
@BRIAN-Gregory Be careful, a trial of VP20 is limited in renderingtime. So I doubt that you will be able to finalize and render your VP13 project in a trial of VP20.

Ta, but if it does play my 13 arrangement, then it's safe to say the full version will play my old arrangements?
Vegas Pro 20, the newest version would be your obvious choice. But most importantly, what specifically happened why your Vegas Pro 13 has stopped working?

I had it on an old laptop for years that packed up. Then I got a version off Etsy but it seems a Windows update threw it off. Problem is I have one important arrangement on there.
the trial has only a rendering limitation of max 3 minutes.
Has that changed or was it a typo? Used to be less than two minutes (discussed e.g. in this thread a month ago).
You're right @vkmast, I couldn't check because I'm using the full version of VP20. 2 or 3 minutes make not a big difference, both a probably to short to render a complete project.
@BRIAN-Gregory Older projects can be edited in newer versions of VP when no plugins of third parties have been used in that project which are probably not available in VP20. A 100% percent guarantee cannot be given. When your VP13 project opens completely in the trial of VP20 it will also open in full version of VP20. So you can try before you buy.

Any older versions of Vegas you'd recommend for me to edit my old arrangements in? Where to buy too, thanks.

As MAGIX doesn't sell Vegas Pro versions prior to the current release, your options for buying an older version of Vegas Pro are limited and often risky. The excellent Vegas Pro 18 offer from Humble Bundle has now expired so that unfortunately is now out of the equation. You might want to look at Steam as they seem to have Vegas Pro 18 on offer - https://store.steampowered.com/ - but that locks you into the Steam universe which is outside of a MAGIX purchase (Steam purchases aren't recognised by the MAGIX registration system because Steam use their own registratiion/authorisation system).
Or look at private purchases through online shops like Amazon - but beware - many complaints have been lodged on this forum over the years that Vegas Pro purchases via Amazon have ended up looking very much like scams (e.g. the serial number has already been used thus making the purchase useless). Or if you have a trusted friend or relative who wants to sell their older Vegas Pro version, then that could be an option as long as the seller follows through with the change of ownership process with MAGIX.
BTW, I assume that you mean by 'arrangement' that you mean 'project'. Using 'arrangement' suggests to me that you have used Vegas Pro to create musical arrangements which is a term commonly used for decades in the music industry.
The latest inexpensive HumbleBundle offer incl. VP 18 Pro Edit has expired about a week ago as mentioned above. See if a link to the UG to VP Edit 19 offer in the pop-up appearing in my old VP 13 works for you.

I downloaded Vegas20 trail and the old projects seem to be working but I can't render any to fully try, as, even if I only try to render 30 seconds, you get either an option to purchase or close
Some render formats require Vegas Creative Software to pay a license fee so those won't be available. You might try rendering to something like DV-AVI so you can test. Or test other formats.

Maybe a long shot, but just because your laptop died doesn't mean your Vegas 13 license died. Do you still have the serial number? If you registered it with Magix, the serial number is likely in your online account also and you likely can redownload it, install and reactivate it.
I downloaded the trial version of Vegas Pro 20 and it opened my old files from Vegas 13 okay, but now it won't work. ''An error occurred. You do not have license for this product" comes up. Any ideas?
Yes, after May 3 of this year, the last 2 versions of Vegas Pro did not work properly due to an apparent construction defect. To be able to use the program anyway, new downloads of Vegas 19 and Vegas 20 are available through this forum that now work without problems

Really? That's annoying. So, I can't download the trial version for now and use? Where do you get the workable versions? Thanks
