How to fade images and audio out? (Not transition/crossfade)

mizugori wrote on 9/3/2017, 10:56 PM

I am using Vegas Movie Studio 14 Platinum on a Windows 10 Pro system.

I have an image to show a text box at the bottom of my video, and there is a point where I want it to just fade away (not suddenly disappear.) I am not trying to transition it to something else, I just want it to fade away (via becoming transparent is fine for example.)

Also, how do I do the same for the audio track? At the end rather than cutting off suddenly, I would like it to fade out at the end... but I cannot seem to figure out how to do this.

I appreciate any help, thanks for reading!

On your timeline, at the top of the beginning or end of a clip is a blue corner. Just drag it in with your mouse.

There is (or should be) a symbol at the bottom left with a symbol for fade in/out. Just click that and move your mouse over the beginning of the clip or audio track to fade in, or at the end to fade out. Hope that helps!

If hannah is referring to what this screenshot shows, it probably helps MSP 13 users.

V. 14 users (like the OP) should (again) hover the mouse over the blue corner(s) like EricLNZ (and Cornico) says to find the small triangle to drag.(In the screenshot below there's the event's opacity adjusted as well.)

This topic is about a Vegas Movie Studio 14 Platinum question.

Indeed, but let's give new forum members some slack here. All of us haven't been posting here for 6½ years like you and I. I've seen even experienced members err on this once or thrice.

What "err"? The vkmast answer mentioned both 13 and 14 versions.

Eric, with "err" I was referring to commentators sometimes not noticing what Cornico was pointing to. I did not think he was referring to the comment by yours truly :)

Sorry, I've got it wrong yet again!!
