Why can't I open a VF file? It was created a day ago in Vegas Studio and when I select 'open with" vegas studio, the project is not there. I have Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 11.0 with the build283.
most of these VF files are clips I saved from trimmer. When I open the program the welcome screen list them as "Recent Projects", I can't open them from the welcome screen either.
I don't believe you can save a Project file directly from the Trimmer.
At least not in Vegas Pro. Only from the timeline.
When you click on the VF project file in the history, does it ask to search for the missing media? Can you physically locate the VF or vf.bak files in the location you last saved them? Are they being saved in an external drive where the drive letter may have changed since the last save?
If you open media ONLY in the Trimmer, and not on the Timeline, and you save the Project, it saves a blank Project because nothing was on the Timeline. I know, because I just tried it.
Is that what you were doing? If so, the solution is to add the trimmed event to the timeline before saving. ;?)
Yes, that makes sense. I'm new to this program and so very much appreciate your help "musicvid" and "vkmast", THANKS. I'm importing about 30 minutes of video at a time from sony handy cam of a band. Goal is to have clips of each song. I wish the "HELP" on VMS was more user friendly. I'll be back.
It would see though that the contents of the project media bin should be preserved in the .vf project file even if nothing was placed on the timeline. Of course, that assumes that the process of trimming added the clips to the project media.
I wouldn't know from experience as i never use either the project media or the trimmer.
