The normal way you see at my screenshot

1. Is after you clicked that button
2. This you see after the deactivation, after clicking OK the program ends.
3. If you tried to start again after clicking the startbutton you get this.

I thought it was simple.

But after deactivating and closing, the graphic #3 does not pop up when I start Vegas again.

Are you sure it was not behind any other window? If yes, the issue (on the same device?) might be this "Visit your MAGIX account > My Products > Show More Details > Deactivate. This option can be used only once a month. (From the VEGAS Pro Help menu choose Deactivate the Software on this PC. This option can be used as often as you wish.) An internet connection is required."

If no one chimes in with a solution, try asking Customer support.

I will have to double check and report.

I'm at work now.

Thanks to both of you.

I got it going.

I wish they would allow at least 2 user/ device license

They do. But sometimes with updates both slots get used in error by the same device instead of overwriting the existing one.

it asks me to deactivate one before I can use the other.

@pmshop ... if you check My Account on MAGIX's web page, you should find that there are 2 activations for VP (assuming that you do not have a 365 or Steam version of VP). If there are 2 activations showing, just deactivate one of them (or both if you only using 1 computer installation) and then try opening VP again and hopefully you will then be able to activate your new install.

As @EricLNZ advised:

But sometimes with updates both slots get used in error by the same device instead of overwriting the existing one.

This has happened to me in the past when updating VP16 on my desktop computer created 2 activations and blocked my ability to install VP16 on my laptop. Just de-activating one of those activations via My Account solved the problem.

@pmshop pls read this comment (and the one just before it).

pmshop wrote on 2/1/2020, 6:47 AM

Yes I have 365, wish that would have more than one user license - Home desktop and a laptop in the field.

vkmast wrote on 2/1/2020, 6:50 AM

@pmshop that explains your problem then. You are not the only one asking for that re the subscription version.

And generally, please note the difference between the deactivating options as to how often you can use them
