How to Select all Clips

Robert-Costo wrote on 7/16/2018, 5:13 PM

I have Movie Studio 8.0 and yes I know it is an Older Verson but it works very very well for the things I do.

I have a lot of Clips in my Video Track Timeline.

So I put my Mouse on the First Clip in the Track and Right Click and pick Select Event To End.

Everything gets Selected and then I Hit the G Key on the Keyboard to Group it.

It does not Group them and yes I try going to Edit then Group but this does not do it.

I thought I could just Right click on the First Clip and pick Select to End what am I doing wrong?

You should be able to select that way. This selects everything on that track. It does not select events on other tracks. Is there a chance that is what happened?

CTRL-A will select ALL events.

Is it possible you have the "ignore event grouping" option turned on? (It's under the Options menu)

Please also note that Movie Studio has it's own forum - you asked in the Vegas Pro forum and Vegas Pro has some additional options over Movie Studio.

OK I am sorry I did not tell you what was going on.

I do Right Click on the First Video Frame and Click Select Event To End.

And yes every Video Frame in the Track is Selected but when I Hit the G Key on my Keyboard it does not Group them.

I know this because if I then start doing things on my Audio Track and then I go back to my Video Track and Click on a Video Frame all my Video Frames do not get Selected so I know they are not Grouped.

If I Hold CTR Key then A on the Keyboard every Video and Audio files is Selected togather but again if I hit the G Key on the Keyboard it will not Group them.

I did go into the Options Menu and try Turn On Ignore Grouping and it did not do anything.

So I Turned back and it still did nothing.

Let me ask I have all JPGs in my Video Timline I am Adding a Viove Over this is not why is it?

PS.......When I go into Movie Studio Forums I can not get a New Post Tab this is why I put it in this Forum.

All of your video frames won't be selected when you group. But if you move one, they should all move.

Robert-Costo wrote on 7/17/2018, 4:10 PM

OK after I Select All my Video Clips you are right I can Drage and move them as a Whole.

But how can I Group them so they all stick togather as one even if I Click on another Track to do something and then come back to the Videos.

When I come back to my Video Clips I need them to be Stuck Togather.

Just like if you open a Video and the Audio movies with it but if you Hit the U Key on the Keyboarg you UnGroup the Audio from the Video.

And if you Click on the Audio and Hold the Shist Key and Select the Video then Hit the G Key on the Keyboard you Group the Audio and Video back.

Is there anyway to make all Video Clips Group and stay as one for good?

So if you group them, then select something else and come back and move one of the events. the whole group does not move?

Robert-Costo wrote on 7/17/2018, 10:11 PM

Thank you I was getting Grouping and Events mixed up.

So like I say I can get everything to be Selected and yes I can move everything at one time.

But what do I do to have them stay togather as one Event like you say?

Is there anyway you can do a motion screen capture and show us what is happening? I am getting a bit confused.

Ctrl+A > G. Then click on e.g. your audio track event and (temporarily) Ignore Event Grouping (Ctrl+Shift+U). Do things on your audio track event. Then press Ctrl+Shift+U. See if the group's on again. (Tested this several times in VMSP 10.)

This is what I mean?

If I have 2. Video Clips in my Timeline I can Sect both of them and move them as one Left or Right.

But as soon as I click off of them and do other things they go back to acting as 2. Independent Video Clips.

Can I Select both Video Clips but make them stay togather for good?

Press Ctrl+A, then G. Then click on [e.g. your audio] track event [or empty area] and after that (temporarily) Ignore Event Grouping (Toolbar button or Ctrl+Shift+U). Do things on your [audio track] event(s). Then press Ctrl+Shift+U. See if the group's on again. (The Toolbar button Auto Ripple off.)
