ByronK wrote on 1/21/2022, 1:27 AM

I've upgraded to VEGAS Pro 19 but getting the upgrade to Vegas19+Mercalli V5 Suite, (which i do not need) offer pop-up when I boot into Windows. - Vegas is the ONLY program that does this! Please how can I get it to stop??

Please note this is not the upgrade splash screen when Vegas is launched. I've unchecked updates in preferences. This is when Windows boots.

Many thanks in advance for any assistance.

In Task Manager/Startup (tab), is there an item named Update Notifier / MAGIX? If so, try disabling it if it is there and isn't disabled.

Dexcon, There's no  item named Update Notifier / MAGIX.

Thank you for your assistance.

The upgrade offer is still appearing when I boot into windows. I haven't even opened Vegas.

I already purchased Vegas 19.

Can someone PLEASE tell me how to get this to STOP????

Again this is the ONLY app that does this BS.

Thank you kindly in advance!

Haven't seen this myself.

Can you hit control/alt/delete and see if there are any processes named Vegas or Magix? That should give a clue for what to uninstall or disable.

RoterS - Nothing in Task Manager or Services running Magix or Vegas as I have not launched anything. This is a fresh boot into Windows which makes these addware pop-ups annoying! Thanks.

Set - I do not have Update Notifier app on my system.

Any other assistance is greatly appreciated.

EricNZ Thanks.

Rather than having me read through the whole damn thread You could have just said go to Program Features and delete Magix Connect program. SHEESH!

This is totally unacceptable for a "Pro" software.

Kind Regards to all for your assistance. (:

Magix shame, shame shame on you for putting this crap in your software! ):<

RogerS wrote on 1/25/2022, 3:29 AM

So Magix Connect was running at startup then.

Eric told you Magix Connect- deleting it is kind of obvious, no?

EricLNZ wrote on 1/25/2022, 3:49 AM

I cannot recall ever having the problem. Presumably because I didn't install Magix Connect if it appeared in the Installation Manager containing the programmes for download. Checking my latest VMS17 DLM it's actually "Update Notifier" that Magix sneak in at the bottom! Possibly they abandoned Magix Connect because it upset many users?

RogerS - Thanks for your help. As I stated, Connect, Magix and Vegas was NOT running in Processes or Service as Eric was kind enough to assist with.

The Connect program is in Control Panel, Programs and Features.

This Magix Connect program acts like malware where it launches itself does it's thing (spam you with POP-UP advertisements to purchase software you already purchased) then removes itself from Task Manager either running in the background or mining data.

If you want to defend Magix for this kind of cr@p then good for you. I hate this $#!+ and should not have to waste my and this forum's time and bandwidth troubleshooting to stop such a stupid "feature" that should NOT be in PRO software.

Again, thank you all for your assistance and if this happens again I'll know where to look. (;

@ByronK MAGIX Connect is not installed with VEGAS Pro. It was in at least one older version, but we strongly made the same argument that you're making and were able to get them to remove it from our installation. It hasn't been part of our install for many versions, but if you installed an old version of VEGAS Pro (or another MAGIX product) and MAGIX Connect got installed with it, it is still on your PC until you manually uninstall it. Once you uninstall it, you should never be bothered by it again due to a VEGAS install.
