I can't Edit My "Media Generated Text"

Hi,

First time user. I've got Sony Vegas Pro 11, Version 371 (latest update I believe).

This is a strange problem I'm having. I've never had anything like this happen again. What I'm trying to do is to put some text in a a video I'm making. In the past, I've always gone to View > Media Generators, and selected "Text and Titles," and then when I click on the green square-like button on the media segment on the time line, it won't let me edit what I want to type. Whenever I've clicked on that button in the past (I've been using this program for over 5 years), it's always taken me to a window where I can write what text I want, edit the text, change how it looks, etc., but now, that window is nowhere to be found. It doesn't seem to be hiding anywhere that I can see. I've even thought that maybe I uninstalled the Media Generator on accident, but I just loaded back up the disc and re-installed that generator, and then when that didn't work, I reinstalled the program, but to no avail. Is there any option I may have accidentally turned off, or something like that? It's really frustrating and confusing, as I need to insert text into my video and it's flat out not letting me. If anyone has any help, I would very much appreciate your taking the time to help me. Thanks so much! :)

Yes, I checked and I do have the latest versions of Windows.net framework. That image that you posted...where can I find that to check to see if I have those boxes selected? By the way, I really appreciate your help. You're very kind to allot some of your free time to help me. :)

Yes, I do drag the tab/window to the timeline, and it does appear, but as you mentioned, the text generator window is missing/won't show up.

...Don't you, by any funny chance, have your "desktop" configured in GPU to use two monitors?... 😁

Thanks. I do have both of those boxes checked.

I've always gone to View > Media Generators, and selected "Text and Titles,"

Normal is to go to the Mediagenerator tab/window and drag a title to the timeline, after that opens the text generator window you are missing, exept if you drag it with hold Ctrl-Shift.

Do you have the latest versions of Windows .NET framework installed?

Problem solved: If I hold down CTRL while pressing the Media Generator icon in the box, the Media Editor comes up. Not sure why, but it works now. Maybe I accidentally binded that function to it...? Regardless, thanks for your help, I appreciate your taking the time to help a Vegas noob like me! :)

Out of curiosity, if you right-click the text event does it give you the option to open up the text media and edit it . Vegas 13 and 14 does that for me. Sometimes finding the icon is difficult especially when the time-line is zoomed out.

Note that the last update of VPro 11 was build 701, not 371.
