Impossible to purchase

Phil_P wrote on 9/18/2024, 11:50 AM

Trying to purchase V22 Suite upgrade from V21

3 different cards failed. All have sufficient balance (by a lot). 2 of them went through App verification and passed. Every time, after a successful approval the Vegas site then give the red message and says the payment failed. The card Apps think it has succeeded.

There appears no obvious way to get help on this. I received no confirmation emails so I am presuming that it did indeed fail and hope that charges will be reversed (3 times).

Does anyone have an idea on where to write for this kind of thing?

This just doesn't smell right for any normal transaction at vegascreativesoftware.com

What you have shared is that the payments went through, but they were not sent to vegascreativesoftware. com

You may have been spoofed, and your money is sitting in someone's lap in Ethiopia or Belarus.

I suggest putting a hard freeze on your card right this minute, file every single bit of documentation you have with your bank and credit card company. Know that it may take up to a year to be investigated and resolved; however, many financial institutions will cover the loss until a final determination is made.

Good luck to you; something similar happened to me last winter on a "good deal" for a guitar I found on Facebook. Got my money back, but never again!

Hi @mark-y yes you’re right. Only a few minutes ago I rechecked. And the funds were not removed from any of the cards. Maybe just temporarily on hold as they were approved by me.

I used the link in the email I received with the upgrade offer and it was definitely the legit site I have a password manager which recognises the site and allowed me to log in. I could then see all my past purchases. I also tried using a VPN etc

All cards use 3D Secure and 2 of them have an App which allows you to approve transactions. Which I did.

Although the link that @vkmast posted (thank you), mentions quite alot about payments not working. So maybe it’s a common issue.

Anyway, I’m pretty screwed regarding updating. Especially as the upgrade offer finishes soon. (Or does it?). But at least not out of pocket.

Thanks, that doesn't really help though when I can't pay for them hahaha. Incidentally there is no PayPal link to pay with either. It is either Mastercard or Visa only. And both fail repeatedly here. And yet I use these cards all the time in other places with no issues. And both are practically at full available balance.

In all fairness (this is not directed at you @Reyfox of course)

You would think that a company would not expect you to jump through hoops in order to give them money. Going through some tech support steps in order to pay for something kind of grates with me tbh.

And of course, those who don't have any issues will just think I am moaning unnecessarily. (Until it happens to them I guess).

Just a thought based on some with purchase issues mentioned on the forum a couple of years ago ...

Have you selected your country of residence via the globe icon on Vegas Pro's product page particular if you are in an EU country:

If I remember correctly, European residents need to select their country (or another EU country) in order to make a purchase so that, I believe, VAT/TVA can be included in the purchase process. I'm not sure, however, if this is still the case.

I forget who Magix use for processing payments but it could be an issue with the banking system.

@Phil_P I just started a purchase of VP22 365. I've always paid via PayPal. My country is USA. Of course there are the other Mastercard and Visa options, but I've always used PayPal.

Here you can see the option to pay via PayPal. Now as to why you are having any difficulties, I personally can not answer, and I hope this gets fixed for you soon.

Hi guys. My area and address is UK. There is no PayPal option. (My PayPal is also UK). I have everything else location wise set correctly. Including the location on the website itself.

I did a bunch of searching, before posting originally, and it seems I’m not alone with this issue.

Of course the problem for me is now that I’ve started the project in the 22 Demo, I can’t render it.

So now I’ll have to jump through more hoops to recreate the project back in v21.

It’s not great tbh.

Trial versions of Vegas Pro will render if the entire project is under 2 minutes (i.e. 2 minutes less than 1 frame at the maximum).

While a nuisance, it's easy enough to copy the timeline in VP22 (Ctrl-A and Ctrl-C) and paste into VP21 (Ctrl-V). Unfortunately, track and project level FX will need to be reset in VP21 and any FX unique to VP22 won't appear in VP21.

Yes thanks @Dexcon. It is actually the first time I have ever used a demo version of Vegas. I usually just instantly upgrade. So, I was totally unaware of the 2-minute limitation until I went to render. It's an hour-long project with a lot of effects, so it'll take a while to recreate but it's OK.

From left field ... try changing your location to the USA and see if that works.

For what it's worth, I've tried several dozen times recently to book from Australia ABBA Voyage London (who use Ticketmaster UK) and almost invariably the credit card fields don't show up or if they do miraculously appear they fail with 'Application Error' after hitting 'Buy". We're now going to a restaurant instead.

The USA site has always worked for me for the last 14 years using AU credit cards - and from Vegas Pro 14 MAGIX is EU based.

EDIT: That reminds me, do the settings for your credit card account permit overseas transactions or recommend coding advice about making overseas transactions? But then until now I've not had a problem until ABBA Voyage with purchasing anything using a credit card in the UK, USA or the EU from AU.

Hi again,

Yes they do I have used them all over the world.

However, thank you for the tip about the USA site. It was a bit complex, but I got it done using Paypal.
Why was it complex, because when I changed the site to USA then logged in to my account it kept going back to Uk and also saying my cart was empty.

But when I finally got it all done there was, as you said, a Paypal method available. Again, this got tricky because logging in to my Paypal to approve the payment, mine is Paypal.co.uk and Magix was expecting a Paypal.com address.

Anyway, I got it done and am now downloading the addons and of course have already activated 22.

One question which I will post on the site itself as it is not entirely relevant to this thread.

Thanks again. (And Magix should be thanking you too, they just got money I had almost given up tbh) :-)
