Insert marker short keyboard shortcut?

Pedantic question, I know...

Is there a way to insert a marker WITHOUT having to also give it a label?

I happen to be inserting literally hundreds of markers in the timeline. Currently, I press M and then also have to press enter so as to skip the label. After doing this 500 times, I'm kind of thinking that it would be nice just to press M on it's own (or some other letter) and avoid also having to press enter as well...

😉

I bet it could be done with a script that automates pressing enter after you hit M. How to code that, I couldn't tell you.

See what this would do (in Options, Internal (hidden) Preferences).

Edit: Note as below: you don't have to go to Internals to change this.

^ This works, and if you drop markers in while playing, you don't have to name them either. Issue resolved.

Perfect, thank you. (Except there's a teensy bug. I already had it checked. Checking "automatically name...." switches it OFF, unchecking it switches it on.)

For me, if "Automatically name regions and markers if not playing" is checked, it automatically names them. If playing, it does not. If it is unchecked, it does not name them, playing or not playing.

That is so bizarre! I have v.18 (build 284). I unchecked that option and it now works (automatic naming of marker).

I'm not sure if there is a name at all, unless it's the timecode (that's what appears when you hover over the marker, but it's blank if you doulbe-click on it).
