Inserting time?I

Natalie-Kingsbury wrote on 3/28/2019, 5:17 PM

I've just purchased Movie Studio 16, I have no idea and cannot seem to find any articles relating to, or tutorials on how to insert time onto my video timeline. In my older version it was incredibly simple, 'insert' then 'time' however, in this version it's not very obvious. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

@Natalie-Kingsbury in my version of Movie Studio 16 Platinum, it is the same, 'Insert', then 'Time'. However, if you have the plain MS16 version I don't know if that is the same or not.

The plain MS 16 "Insert" dropdown menu does not have "Time".

That is probably going to solve the mystery!

@j-v Isn't inserting Time different to adding a Timecode?

Not to me. I would call this somehow "inserting empty space on the timeline".
I have not used that and I never will do it. Cutting and dragging is much easier and gives me more controle.

But inserting time, as you say, inserts empty space. I never use it. But inserting timecode is something completely different? It places visible time in your image. So it's not an alternative for Insert\Time.

For those who might have been left wondering, let's recap. Insert > Time inserts empty space on the timeline. Adding Timecode adds that FX. To me, that's different. The OP did not ask about Timecode.

I withdrew my wrong interpretation of the question of the OP.
Sorry for that 😌, but for me it is such a useless option that I never used it and therefore did not recognized the question so well.

@j-v note also that the nomenclature that the software uses may not always be a no-brainer to non-native English speakers like us 😎

👍😄

After more than 10 years I'm a bit used to it, but never totally.
