interface annoyance

Hi, I have a trial version of Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 14.0 - obviously a pro video editing platform . . . however, I have one gripe that's turning me off - the wasted space at the top of the screen. This includes the title bar and the Edit/Tools/View/Options bar. That adds up to 3/8". On a 15" laptop that's too much. Surely there must be a way of hiding these. Thanks guys.

The toolbar and status bar can be turned off (View menu). Read also VEGAS Magazine articles about organising your workspace. They refer to Vegas Pro, but most techniques (if not all) apply to VMSP 14. And the online Help item The Movie Studio Platinum Window is worth looking up.

But, if at all applicable, get an external monitor with a larger screen.

Thanks for replying vkmast. However, I could find nothing under View, nothing under Organizing . . . and I already have a large monitor - but Magix shouldn't expect me to take it on an airplane when a few lines of software would help.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Sorry if I was not clear enough. And pls read the Help item I referred to.

And re the UI in general, if you read some of the current topics on the forum, it is never good enough.

You were perfectly clear . . . just wrong! (unless I missed it, if I did please correct by quoting the relavant text).

You don't think the screenshot and the links are relevant enough?? And where was I wrong?

We're not getting anywhere . . . still, I'd like to keep the question posted in case someone else can help. Thanks

If you just want to get rid of the title bar ("white") section and are not interested in getting more workspace by currently applicable means or through your larger monitor, read the comments in this thread by 3POINT (his 3rd there), EricLNZ and the MAGIX Vegas dev team's MagixDerek.

So I'm not the only one. It doesn't appear to be possible to hide these parts of the layout. That's OK I can probably live with it (when I'm not on the road it won't be a problem). However, I don't think I can live with that constantly flashing vertical selector - too distracting - do you know of a fix for that? Thanks

By "that constantly flashing vertical selector" I assume you are referring to the play cursor / timeline cursor (or CTI Current Timeline Indicator, indicating not surprisingly the current time in the project and your position on the timeline). See what happens if you click "Stop" under the Preview window.
